Newfoundland Discussions / Re: No! He's a Landseer, Dangit!

The only thing that really seperates a Newfoundland and a Landseer, is an artist named Landseer who loved to Picture Newfoundlands. He was very particular because they had to have a lot of white on them. But yes nowadays they are treated as a different breed.

Ashley got her way and she got a rat last night, I'll post some pics when she's up (sleeps days works nights)

She been wanting a new critter for a while because her hamster died about 2 months ago aged 4 yrs and her wild rabbit also died
Wild Rabbit story: One morning before work i had the dogs outside at about 5am Chav and Arkyd flew off a full speed and between the two of them the managed to corner a rabbit, Before i could do anything chav, sorry to say killed it.
well later that evening when i got home had the dogs out once again Arkyd comes jogging up to me with something in his mouth .
A dead baby rabiit, i told him to drop it then said show me
he lead me to a place at the back of the yard where i found four more, we went to the vet where three died at one day old, the final one he told us to put back so the mother could do her job. The problem with that is the mother chav killed that morning so Ashley decided that she'd try saving it, It lived for about 3 months and was doing real well playin with the dogs!! eating well looked real good
well we came home from work one day and it was dead.No idea why

Newfoundland Discussions / Re: Adopted 1.5 yr old Newfie
« on: February 28, 2008, 12:42:10 pm »
This is my take on it

Because he is adopted and young he's probably craving love and attention, I've been around a lot of hunting dogs which get treated like just another gun in the cabinet. When i pay them any attention Then stop they'll hit me with the paw. i think that this is just them telling us they dont want you to stop petting them yet

As for the harmless mouthing where it is a natural behavior it could also be connected with attention seeking

This is just my opinion but i see these behaviors a lot when volenteering at the humane society

There used to be an area called paw prints but i guess it was too much to upkeep
i just posted bout this the other day i was saying i could try set up a sister site just for that. but then it falls down to whether or not i'd be able to keep up with it.

i Started on this site about a year and a half ago but was MIA for about 10 months, before i left there was a thing called Paw prints, i was wondering what happened to it because i thought it was cool. My big brother (super geek) has a few blank named web domains spare and i was wondering if it was worth trying to set up a seperate site just for paw prints
(not trying to steal bpoers trying to help)......just a thought
And also what happned to monthly photo contests i like that aswell
