Why? Very practical reason. We found out that there are no right sockets in our barn, but vet with ultrasonograph is arriving on Monday, and that machine needs power... so only available power is inside our house where the vet check will be held tomorrow. We needed be sure that horse will be cooperting so we made her used about being inside. She just loves all the treats and attention inside, and she is best beheiving pet, honestly...

Probably I must clean THIS like a good mum?
Pictures are sweet, but I'm worried, actually. Cygnets like dogs now and do not look at them as possible danger - they treat our big fluffy Grace as a mum, and it could lead them into big trouble later when they will be released in wildlife. So thes cute sweeterness has a bit bitter taste.

So, 6 cygnets arrived The same size, different breed - they are Cygnus cygnus, and sooo different song - they are like orchestra together now ... Just beautiful... Eddy was making more nervous noises, this lot ... So paceful, like a lullaby.
Too busy tonight to make pictures, but I promise a lot tomorrow. They are beautiful!

That's why i agreed to take 6 more in - there is a hope that Eddie will be socializing better with his/her own breed, otherwise his socialization goes like that
Big dogs are his best friends, small dogs and cats - he is hissing at them.
We had friends visiting on Sunday, so it was our 4, and their 3.5 (0.5 is their Griffon pup)...

thank you, it is so sad when somebody so little must suffer and die without even a life...
But cage prepared for her will be not empty. Today ornitologists called in - can we foster 6 more swan babies. A moron shot parents, and they have no chance to survive without supervision and protection.
So seems that we are becoming something like official wildlife rescue anyway.

Sadly, she didn't make it. She died this afternoon - vet tried just everything, but injuries were really nasty and she didn't responded well to antibiotics.

This morning update - poor baby is still alive, but just. Feeding at present is out of question, she is on IV now.

Yes, vet had not checked her properly at the beginning as baby was perky, tried to bite, and wound were not seen at all - so rabbies vaccine was the first thing (we have quite high number of rabbies here, so it is the first thing to worry about) - vet's mistake, but who was able to imagine that injuries are so serious, large and old alreday?
No, they did not take it stright to me - people took that injured creature to the vet, and then vet called me - can I take the poor soul in if she/he survives, or she/he will be PTS as there are no other solutions - our shelter can not take in wildlife animals, no wildlife rescues at all (if animal is rare, CITES list, our Zoo takes them, but racoons, foxes, storks, swans - they are not rare, endaged species, so they can hope only for somebody like me).
I'm now keeping fingers crossed so baby will survive the night.

Yesterday a racoon baby was taken to our vet. She was probably attacked by dog or something - she has few serious and not fresh wounds. In some wounds vet already found maggots.
If raccon will survive, she will come to my house as a foster or forever pet, but we need your help as here are no wildlife rescue centres, and it is Sunday, and none of rescues that I had found on Internet, are answering phones.
Maybe you can call to your local rescue centres and get info which antybiotics racoons with injuries would respond better.
So - it is raccon girl, approx 3 mo old, has been bitten probably by dogs, is exhausted, inflamed and has maggots in her wounds.
As her wounds seemed minor at the beginning, she got rabbies vaccine, and it probably put her in even worse position, but she is brave baby and tries really hard to survive - she is not trying to bite, is holdable, allowed to clean all her wounds and takes even IV with pride. She is rejecting food, but still drinks by herself.
I will be really thankful for all info, advices and suggestions.
