This info was originally posted on a Rottweiler Club list and the dog is a Rottweiler, who reportedly came out of a breed ring at a show but was cooled down for 30 minutes prior to receiving a "handful of ice" in his water bucket.
I have emailed the OP of this info for confirmation that the event was specifically attributed to ingestion of ice water by the surgeon. I will forward any response (I asked for permission to do so).
OTOH, a fellow rescuer (who I know very well) emailed me that her neighbors dog survived an episode of bloat last winter, which the U of PA Vet Hospital contributed to eating snow while romping. (Don't know the breed in this case).
