This is actually a battle I have won .... sort of. Goliath is not allowed on ANY furnature EXCEPT his couch. We happened to get new furnature just before getting Goliath and I hadn't disposed of the old stuff yet when I brought him home. He adopted the old love seat immediatly and so we kept it for him. He loves it and  it has saved all of our new furnature from certian destruction (or at least from being taken over).

I have been lucky enough in life to be ugly and somewhat short tempered (how I ended up married to beautiful woman is beyond me). This has lead to me being rather stand-offish (but not rude) towards most people. My dog Goliath has totally broken me of that ..... there is simply no other way. People come up so often to pet him or comment on how big he is (35" at shoulder and about 170 lbs at almost 18 months) etc... that I have no choice but to interact. It has worked out pretty well. I guess this is opposite of the usual response (and there have been one or two instances where people were clearly scarred of him) but I chalk it up to his great personality (well ... its not mine!) and adorable face. He hasn't met the hand that is unwelcome to pet him .... young or old!

I got that reaction once when Goliath was about 8 months old .... the cashier girl came out almost at once and told the other lady that Goliath was the best behaved puppy in the store and she should let her dog play with him. I guess that was because we are there almost every week, but it is indeed the truth. I would say to just worry about your own dog and the people that are "the right ones" will come to you.

It was Newfie & Great Pyr that were crossed with the smooth coated St.'s..Ty! :P ;D lol!

Please forgive me oh mighty Great Pyrenees, how could I not give you the credit you so rightfully deserve? My apologies forever... I shall now on double-check and cross-reference all my sources for canine history!!
 ;)

I thought that combo was what made up the Leonberger and only the Newfie was used to re-strengthen the Saints genepool?  Too much to remember.  Whatever, I love all dogs, even ugly mutts and foofy poodles.  I agree with people's concern and wariness about genetic meddling and puppy milling, although I don't know anything about this AM issue, so I won't pretend to understand.

We have a MidWest 99N with a plastic bottom pan. It is UNBREAKABLE and Goliath likes it. It came with a divider to size it to the dog as well. It was kind of expensive but if you look around you my get a decent deal.

Rochester huh? I am originally from Syracuse, but now we live in FL. Its nice to hear from somone in upstate NY.

You don't have to worry about the photos...I will post and post and post.     Your profile doesn't say what area you are in, but maybe if your husband MET some AM's he would fall in love.  The breeder we are getting ours from has testimonial letters (some are flippin'amazing) from families of their pups on the website as well as photos.  Keep it up, you can break him!!!  <LOL>

We are in Rochester, NY - so I know there is a breeder in Ohio and one in Pennsylvania; where did you get yours from Hubby did say in passing one day if you are going to get one you should get it from the originator, followed by your not getting one!!!  I bet I do

If you don't mind me asking how long you were on a waiting list?  I'm trying to decide about timing and such.  I see Deepwood Acres waiting list is closed until 2008.  I am looking for a fawn female - I can't even imagine how excited you must be - I am excited for you and looking forward to pictures.

Goliath likes to play with 2 jack russels across the street and they get wild..... One day I looked over and he was standing there with both hanging (luckily they are small). It was funny and no one was hurt at all.

They nature of AM's is to be serene even in the .... strangest of circumstances.

Great pix ..... what are you bribing him with to get him to look right into the camera? I have to use cheese and it's still not dead on like your shots.

I love the sleeping puppy picture...... too cute.

Bava has his tongue hanging out all the time too. Correct bite but his tongue is just well, there :) Since we've had him he's been like that. Doesn't matter if the floor is covered in hair from a grooming (course his tongue is black at that point covered in hair.)

In all the photo's you see here, his tongue is out, even my avatar. You live in MS, right? Wait til summer :D
