Newfoundland Pictures / Re: New mom of Newfie pup!
« on: May 27, 2006, 06:45:18 am »
Wow! It's been months since I've posted! I wish I had a current pic of Molly to put on here. She's 14 months old now, and a big mop! For the longest time it seemed like she was never going to have the long fur. Now she swishes when she walks:-)

Sorry to hear about your Saint, Ollie:-( It still hurts a little anytime I happen to see one. They sure are special.

I don't really have a breeder recomendation. We didn't get Molly from a professional breeder....I wouldn't say she was a backyard breeder....but I'd rather recommend you buy from someone who's made a name for themselves:-) and I wish you the best of luck in finding a great dog!

I want to thank all of you for being so kind & understanding. Of course you sure understand if you've been through it! There is a special place in our hearts where Roswell is alive & well & never, ever forgotten.

And now it feels like Molly has always been with us.  Except we know not to ever take her for granted! She turned 6 months old last week, and our hearts are growing fuller with each passing day:-)

Just an update on my situation. AKC has accepted "Rockman's Unsinkable Molly" for her registered name. Rockman has been my husband's nick name since Jr High, and our Saint Bernard's name was "Rockman's Forever Roswell".

LOL......when we decided to get a Newfie, we were under the impression that Pyrs, Saints, and Newfies were all cousins! Well, you know! One is pure white, one is pure black, and then you have the tri-color of the Saint....right? Ha-ha! And then I only found out about browns, silvers, and Landseers after joining BPO. I really liked the browns, did my research on Newfoundlands, and was lucky to find Molly's breeder. Even with the research, it wasn't until we'd had Molly for a few weeks that I finally learned Newfies were originally developed from Labs and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers! I was shocked!

Our farm name is Talking Timbers Farm, and our registered name for all of our Nigerian Dwarf goats is Talking Timber. We're thinking we'd like to also use it as our kennel name.

During the sinking of the Titanic off the coast of Newfoundland on April 14, 1912, Molly Brown was reputed to have rowed for seven and a half hours and delivered herself and her passengers to safety on Lifeboat No.6. She became known as the only woman to have done so and thus earned her nickname "Unsinkable". Later, she liked to entertain the society leaders with her picturesque descriptions of the event. Many historians, however, consider Molly Brown's story to be only a legend.

Since Molly is a Newfoundland (who are known for rescueing people in water), she is brown (which also happens to be my maiden name), and she truely seems to be "unsinkable":-)  We are thinking of registering her with AKC as............ .............. ..Talking Timber legend Of Molly.

That's Molly in the tub:-)  Yes, we keep her water bucket in the tub in an attempt to curb some of the water damage she's creating in the bathroom:-)  She gets in & out easily. Course sometimes she decides her whole body needs a drink, so she dumps the water & rolls around in it real quick before it goes down the drain. At which point she feels the need to jump back out........wit hout shaking the water off mind you, apparently shaking water off is for wimps........m ake wet doggie pawprints across the bathroom carpet........ and score as many points as possible based on how many articles of my clothing she can drench while I'm wearing them:-)

I'll take some pictures too. I'll try for a light colored background:-) So it looks like Rocco is about 3 1/2 weeks older. Well, I think Molly would probably like an older man<giggle>

That website was the first one I came to when I did a search on Merrick dog food. Pretty cool it'd be cheaper for you than buying it locally! BTW, my name is JoAnne. Don't know what I was thinking when they asked for a user name, duh!  Should have put Molly's_mom.

You like her little snowman:-)  I know Molly's going to LOVE winter. What was going on here was that she had been outside playing in water. She LOVES being wet, and she LOVES laying on top of the cold air vent when the air is on! Especially when she's wet. Brrrr. So that's what she's doing here. My husband covered her up & propped the snowman against her:-)

Oh geez! Check out this link..........

http://www.sitstay.com/store/edibles/mfood3.shtml

Sitstay.com has the Grammy's Pot Pie (30 lbs) for $35.30, and it's free shipping!

What you & I need to do is take a pic of Rocco and Molly next to something that you can really judge their size comparitively. .....if that makes any sense:-) When was Rocco born? Molly was born March 30th. A litter of 8.

I should have mentioned that I'm Molly's mom. Just wanted you to see a pic of Winston, taken at 12 months. He's always had Diamond & eats 6 cups a day. Molly's on Diamond Puppy & eats 4 cups a day. But I think I'll check into the Merrick dog food. I agree that 7-8 cups sounds like an awful lot!

Anyway.......l ooking forward to seeing pics of Rocco!!!
