I agree, I was just on there and there are 3 8 week old pups who's time up is tomorrow. That is sad... It is a nice feature for rescues and such.

I agree as well. I ran into this issue when I took my dog up to my mom's house. It ended with me at the emergency room because my mom's sheepdog accidently put a tooth into the back of my son's head. Nothing major and it was only one stitch, but it could have been worse. I feel that my panic in trying to break the dogs apart worsens matters. This was a temporary situation, so nothing like yours. But I had to show both dogs for the rest of the week, that I was in charge, not them.

Well, here is the kicker. A release has to be signed that if you are not able to keep the dog, it has to be returned to the shelter... ha ha ha. Like I would take the dog back there when they intend to kill it now. And on top of that, it's like a $100 adoption fee. Which isn't alot for a full blood Rottweiler and alot cheaper than most rescues. But this dog is 2 days from death and I am broke until Friday.
It sucks! And I haven't gotten my hubby to budge yet, although he did come into my office and ask me where it was.

I looked at this Rott yesterday on petfinder, I was just looking around. For some reason I got back on today and seen that his headline had been changed.
I begged and begged my husband to let me go get him, he is beautiful! But apparently has some aggression towards cats. I hate to see him put down. I am gonna see if I can't talk him into letting me foster him.

Great everyone, thank you. I am normally pretty good with dogs that I do not know, I let them smell first and then yeah, rub around to under thier chin or the side of the face. I will have to load my pockets up with treats before I go, ha ha! Thats a great idea, thanks! I am really excited to be helping out there.

Wasn't sure where to post this. I just starting volunteering in an animal rescue. Most of the dogs are very shy. Their are trainers there, but walking and playing is left up to us volunteers. I was wondering about some ideas to instill confidence, gain trust and handle the timid dogs better.

UPDATE:  I am so upset. I found out today that Tehya had some issues with her kidneys and she passed away last night from kidney failure. The guy who had her racked up a couple thousand dollars in vet bills, so I know that he was at least trying to deal with the issue. His kids are crushed though and I feel so bad!

UPDATE: Ok, My sister in law is having some issues with her puppy, but just the nipping issue.
My hubby finally got fed up with Tehya here and gave her away (yes, I cried) - but it was one of his workers that took her, she is right down the street, so if I wanted to, I can go visit whenever I want. She has a huge fenced in yard to play in and they haven't had any issues with her.
I really really really miss her!!! But they say she is doing very well, so I am happy for her...
