Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Re: Tulsa needs a temporary home
« on: March 29, 2008, 07:50:36 pm »
Tulsa is apprx 8 yrs. old, she is a shepard/chow/rotti mix about 100 lbs.
She has developed arthritis in her hips which I treat with glucosamine, it seems to help.
She needs to be in a home with older adults, no children, or cats, she chases them, but I've seen her get backed down.
She loathes skatebords!
She is an excellent watchdog and will let you know if there is anything outside that might pose a threat. On the other hand, she LOVES the Pizza Man!
I don't know how long I will be in this situation. I've interviewed for several positions but it seems I'm either over or under qualified. I'm just looking for a job!
If her temp home turns into permanent, so be it, I just want her to be in a good place.
Everyone who has responded, old friends and new, this is the greatest place, I thank you all.

Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Tulsa needs a temporary home
« on: March 27, 2008, 04:54:37 pm »
It's been awhile since I posted here, but I know it's the place to come to for help.
I lost my business due to the real estate market downturn, and now I've lost my apartment.
If anyone is here in Fresno CA. please contact me at 559-681-9038.
I'm not as concerned about myself as I am about Tulsa, we've been constant companions since the day I rescued her and her well being weighs heavy on my heart and mind.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tulsa found a sweatshirt at the school playground and insists on wearing it when it's raining.
She is such a goof!

You go Girl!
When Tulsa is not hunting squirrels, she has her eye on the "Lap Rats".
She keeps them inline.
I was told by a friend, that there was a woman who came to the park with her trio of Pomeranions, undisciplined, and uncontrollable, who would NEVER come back because Tulsa was viscious! All she did was knock them down and tell them to "Shut UP!"
People Are Strange!

Tulsa is a 'Grazer', 2 Cups in the A.M., 2 Cups in the P.M.
Sometimes she doesn't finish one or the other, but I make sure it's there.

Brrr!
It looks cold there!
Don't you miss Freesno?

Enjoy your dog, and keep loving him, he will slow and tell you when it is his time. Dogs are not like people, they will love you through the pain, and they can sense it through your feelings for them. Our dogs have always put us first, just make sure that you are as ready as he is.
Our prayers are with you.
Enjoy the Boy, he will wait for you, the constant companion, at the Bridge.

Pity you don't know his pedigree, handsome dog none the less.
Flynn and Tulsa have very similar coloration.
Tulsa is very prey oriented, and will chase squirrels before she will play with others at the dog park.
She cruises the perimeter of the park looking for trangressors, and stalks them. Only when the 'puppies' interupt her hunting will she play. She's getting very 'Cranky' in her old age!
She's almost 4 years old, and has 'issues' when I pay attention to other dogs. She will lie at my feet and pounce on other dogs that come up to me. Not aggresively, but just to tell them that she is the 'Queen', and that they should ask permission!

I thought 'Tulsa' was appropriate, considering her rough and tumble ways.
What does Gene Pitney have to do with it?
"Town without Pity" is a great tune!
And then I spelled her name backwards, and it all fell into place! :-* ;D

Tulsa is ShepardxChow and her paws are webbed too. She can outswim any dog that I've ever seen.
The inside of her mouth is almost all black also.
Don't know what other breed she is mixed with.
Saw a thread on here about American Tundra Shepards, and the likeness was uncanny.
She has an undercoat like a Husky/Malamute, but she loves the water.
They can be aloof, very territorial (protective), and can be really GOOFY!
I love my dog!
Here's some pics.
Most of you have seen them before.

Tulsa used to be the scourge of the dog park, making sure everyone knew she was the 'Queen'!
In the last few months, she has let the other dogs be themselves, she will sit by my side when a dog is extremely social. Usually young dogs will lick around the face of a dog that they know to be 'Alpha', and will submit by a body movement. She accepts this, and will, if it gets out of hand, do an 'Alpha' roll. She comes back to my side and sits on my foot!
A submissive dog is not a bad thing.
An aggresive dog, knowing that it is 'Alpha'can be a problem.
As your dog matures it will figure out the 'pecking' order, and it will figure out who will love on it, and who won't.
Tulsa plays with the younger dogs, although relunctantely.
She'd just as soon not be bothered.
If they get in the way of her Squirrel Hunting, she gets p##sed.
I love my dog!
She is getting old, and set in her ways.
Kind of like her old man.

Remembering those no longer with us. / Re: A Video in Memory of Diesel
« on: February 10, 2006, 09:46:40 pm »
Dear Blair,
I've said it before, I know the pain, it's not the size of the dog, it's the size of our heart for the dog.
Diesel had a very good life, he was the 'ruler of the roost' and he knew it.
I hope the others don't grieve as hard as you.
Let the others ease your pain, I'll bet they miss him as much as you do.
When you approach the bridge, he will be waiting to greet you with the rest of your family behind him.
You will meet again.

Games & Jokes / Re: What are you listening to?
« on: February 10, 2006, 12:47:36 am »
A CD that a friend sent of her group, they call themselves, 'High Five', and it's 40 to 50's soft jazz. Great vocals, superb instrumentals, the first cut is 'My Blue Heaven', and it brought tears to my eyes.
I'm gonna listen to it again and shut down the 'puter'.
Sweet Dreams,
J & T
