Food Discussion & Information / Re: Need help with Satin Balls!
« on: January 28, 2006, 11:45:50 pm »
The recipe on our Saving Pyrs In Need site says to divide the satin balls into (10) 1 quart freezer ziplock bags & freeze what you don't need immediately.  Feeding instructions for supplementing with regular kibble were to give 1/4 lb once a day with regular kibble (place it on top, or the dog will spill the kibble out looking for it).  Hope this helps.

Thanks all!

They got new names from their foster moms (I knew that would happen - but wanted to call them something more than "hey you" while they were with me):

"Jack" is Cosmo - he's gotten stuck in the pasture gate a number of times now & is developing what appears to be kennel cough.

"Jill" is Daphne - her mom states she is so good and doing great.  Paws crossed that she doesn't develop the cough, too!

 :)

Oh Wow!  She looks very grown up now!  What a beauty!  You & Kathleen should be proud of what you've done to bring her back to health & give her loving homes.

"Is that normal for 7 month old Pyrenees?"

In a word:  YES!!!

He'll do better in the crate with a blanket that smells of you...mine don't mess in their crates & they are 7, 9, 11 months & 1 year (my foster).  When you start him in the crate just have him go in, get a treat, & come out as you work with him going in, start having the door closed briefly, and then for longer periods.  Have him sit & be quiet (no whining or barking going on when you open the door.

Good luck!

Great Pyrenees Pictures / lookie what i found!

Friday, I went to one of Dallas' shelters to pick up a couple pyr-lab mixes for SPIN.....they were sooooo cute......even though they pee'd, poop'd & got car sick all over the back of my car! - good thing I'd remembered to put down some towels!   ;)

They both gave me lots of puppy kisses while I was putting collars on them in the kennel at the shelter.  Jack was insistent that my ear needed some washing - it made it hard to put the collar on Jill with him tickling my ear!   :D

Jill had a chihuahua harness wrapped way too tight (both the neck & body parts were around her neck).  >:(

I took them to their new foster mommies for some tlc.....while they were with me, I called them Jack & Jill (Jack has the green leash, Jill the red one).

They remind me of how Casper looked when I first saw him on Petfinder. :)

They are adorable.....o kay, I posted this - now I'm going to go cry because I'm missing my Dona who was a mahogany colored Golden - sweet & kinda dumb.  She passed to the Bridge this spring at 14 years old (she'd shared 12 of them with me - she was a stray that I took in).
