Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: Hip Replacement

He has been xrayed 3 times. Once at 12 months, once at 18 months and again at 30 months. The laxity is no better. He is on a Glucosoamine supplement. He gets regular exercise. I'm now looking for a hydrotherapy place in my area. I wish he could go swimming every day but right now its impossible.

I wish that were the case. I was hoping his hips would tighten up as well but now that he is 2 1/2 that probably wont happen.

Hello. I was wondering if anyone here knows of a Newf that has had hip replacement surgery. I found out today that Moses Has a very loose hip (laxaty). If it gets worse or makes it more difficult to get around they are suggesting hip surgery. None of the newfs in Moses family tree has had bad hips. At least not in the last 4 generations. Sometimes I guess things just happen.

Moses just stares at Koko. He tries to get as close as possible. Once he crosses over her comfort line she flies to her perch. She will bump her beak against his nose once in a while but usually will ignore Moses, which is hard to do.

Just wanted to post a few pics of the baby boy. After 2 years Moses is still completely intrigued by Koko (my African Grey). I have more pics of him as an older boy but I need to shrink them down to fit the format, sorry.

Good luck with the pup. I can't say I know of a situation like that with a Newf. Newfs are usually very good at crate training. I would like to recommend that you take your Newf outside a little more frequently. When I bring my pups home I take a couple weeks off from work and keep a constant eye on them. My Moses (my most recent Newf) trained in about 2 months. If you can get any additional help to take out the pup she will do much better. As for the separation anxiety each dog is a separate case I find. Best of Luck w/ Astrid. Also remember positive reinforcement.
