looks a little to close to a wolf hybred for my taste- sounds like a dog for a very experianced dog person.

Is it sad that i hope all my pets go like that- he didn't suffer- he didn't linger at the vets, you didn't have to agonize over euthinasia..it was his gift to you that he passed in peace.

OMG- daisy dose this ALLLLL the time- especially if i am feeding a small kibble food. I think it just gets caught in their throat and they cough it up- and being dogs- the eat it!!!

p.s.- my dog LOVES cat puke too...why do they bother flavoring dog food- someone need to make a barf flavored food!

wow..i was contacting GG to adopt a dane last year..i was told the lowest adoption fee was $400!!!!  I was shocked...i have worked in animal shelters, animal hospitals and was a foster home for mastiff rescue- i can imagine asking that much for a adoption fee!!! I really made me question as to weather they actually WANTED to adopt a dane to me..or anyone for that matter!  I had owned a dane before, and like i said i fostered for mastiff rescue..i have a lot of experiance with large breed dogs- i live in a big house with a big fenced yard..yet i felt like they were saying i wasn't good enough to have one of THEIR danes.
oh well..i went to petfinder.com and found daisy- i did spend $210.00 in adoption fee to get her-( the rescue first told me 150..then the price kept going up!) which i still think is very high seeing as she had an obvious skin alllgery thing going on and they never took her to a vet in the 8 months they had her- but thats anouther story completely.
I would not be surprize to learn that GG is more of a great dane hording situation then a true adoption rescue, and to hear that people ..who paid at least 400$ mind you- got dogs with problems and such ..thats just sick and cast a poor light on the good work TRUE rescue orginizations are doing!

I'm in !!! Lets do it!!!!!!!

i worked at the Denver Dumb Friends League (Animal Shelter) for years- and the Denver animal control was already euthinizing all pitts brought to their shelter- and that was in 1996! at the league we were transfering pits to shelters in longmont, boulder and other counties were pitts were still ok. But to what end- bad people who own bad pitts- fight them and other such crap- dont care about any law. I meet meny people - while i was working in the veterinary field- who regularly showed up with new pitts- saying the city had taken the ones we had seen before- so they just went and bought new ones.
what scares me the most..what breed is next? i have be told that most homeowners insurances wont cover great danes!!!!Is someone going to tell me i can't have my dog?
I agree- here in california- there NEEDS to be more strict licencing laws- and spay /neuter laws.
instead of breed bans- we need more public education- maybe a special licence for the breed people are worried about- a licence that requires a 'yard check' and a general interview with the owner??? i don't know..but a blanket law against one breed can only lead to more laws.

ummm navigating the site got a little weird when i was looking at the portraits- i couldn't get back to the home page( the green paws one) - oh and i would 'watermark' the artwork- something that covers part of the image- to keep people from saving it to their desktops then printing it without permission. (but i'm weird about my artwork!) ;D

wellll i am an oddball to- i free feed daisy- i always worried more about the 'over excited ' eater that gobbles down there food everytime you present it- i just try to train my danes into eatting a little bit throughout the day.
