You are right, if the dog isn't the correct color, it's not correct, however I stated that wrong.

I meant you can't throw out the idea of crossing color families for improvement.  I'm sorry if I confused you.

Lovely dogs Eastwood!

In my research in Danes, I've seen many lovely dogs come from "non-color pure" breedings, the thing is, if the breeder is working with a geneticist, and are taking all precautions, and are responsible for what they produce, they aren't doing anything wrong.  Danes used to come in every color, we just whittled it down to a basic six, and look, we still have more than the basic six!  You can't throw away a correct animal based on color alone.  Just my opinion!

Awww everyone, thank you!  Wonderful pictures!  Bucket head was expecially cute!  Reminds me of my old cow when she was a calf, she used to do that as well lol.  This looks like a great place, thank you sooooo much for the warm welcome!

How was the rescue contract, or did you take her in on your own?  I wouldn't bash you for discussing what you feel is in the best interest for both girls, because you are there and know much better than the rest of us.  Some girls just will not tolerate other females.  Some won't tolerate other dogs at all.  I hope everything will work out and you find a great home for her!  Best wishes!

Maybe my point of view is narrow, however, I see no reason to argue over this.  A contract was broken, am I correct or not?  Therefore, any actions to amend the situation shouldn't be viewed in anger, because I'm sure if your contract was broken, everyone else would do thier best to help.  I think it's a great sign of character to stand up and do the right thing.  Just my opinion.  :)

LOL, my aunt came over this morning to pick up my mother and she hasn't seen the Danes before, since I've been out of state the past four years, they all ran up to her and leaned, and she was amazed at how they were so loving and attention starved of course.  My Anya always has her psycho look, she's the sweetest but naughtiest dog.  She sneaks up on the bed, steals clothes, takes blankets, and "talks" when she demands things.  My puppy is always re-arranging the trash can, I wonder why I'm always finding cheese plastic or strange things upstairs, and my boy is so well behaved, I just can't believe it, I'm waiting for him to go through a stage lol.  That about sums up my dogs, they are always doing something, but it makes life interesting and I love them for it!

Here's one of Brindle puppy's birthday party from last Wednesday, I don't have kids, but I like it when the kids come out to play with the monsters, I really think it's great socialization.

Thanks everyone!  My Black and White girl gets the psycho look a lot.  But she is, shhh, don't tell her I said so.  In that picture above, my puppy's mask is washed out, I think it was the flash.  Here's one of her stacked in front of the barn.  Yes, she is standing on a rotted tree stump, that was a HUGE tree.

Bless your heart for calling the breeder!  That is sometimes the only way contracts can be enforced, and reputable dog people have to stick together for the benefit of the dogs!  Just my opinion.

I'm might not reflect the opinion of the majority, but there are reputable Blue breeders around.  Doing your homework and visiting breeders is your best bet.  Danes Online is a good resource, they screen who put ads there.  Reputable breeders will always have Blacks in Blue lines, no one wants CDA.  Reputable breeders also produce Blues, I don't quite understand why someone would think the opposite.  I suggest checking out Coleridge Great Danes.  Good luck in the search and definitely share pictures.  :)
