Rottweiler Pictures / Re: Rottweilers living with other breeds.
« on: April 05, 2005, 02:06:39 pm »
Actually, my Rottie lives with 2 Anatolian Shepherds, which are bigger than Rotties.  My oldest Shepherd, is 4 yrs old, my Rottie is 2 yrs old, and my other Anatolian is 8 weeks old.  My Rottie gets along with everyone, although he's not sure how to play w/the new puppy, but he's being quite gentle with her.   ;D

That is the most hilarious picture!  My Anatolian gets in crazy positions like that too.  How yours stayed like that long enough for a photo is amazing.   :o

My Anatolian, Zeka absolutely loves sugar & candy.  If you mention "sugar" he comes running.  One time we caved in & gave him a small banana flavored Runt candy.  Instead of just swallowing it whole like you'd think most dogs would, he sat there & sucked on the darn thing, rolling it around in his mouth.  :o

He'll "shake" & "speak", but that's about the extent of his regular tricks.

Oh, and he purrs like a big, fat kitty when you rub his ears.  Silliest thing I've ever heard.

Bills & Other Legislative Acts / Re: What is going on with PETA?
« on: March 29, 2005, 12:02:11 pm »
I think PETA started off with a good concept - animal rights, but like most other special interest groups, they've gone off the deep end.  If we all knew what happens with the food & fashion industries, we'd all be vegans.

I live in Orange County, CA - & I have heard that the city of Irvine has a Rottweiler ban.  Now, I'm not sure if it's a wide-spread ban, or if it only applies to people who rent & have animals.  Funny, my Anatolian Shepherd is much larger than my Rottie, but just because he's a Rottie, he gets the bum rap.  No one in my neighborhood is scared of my shepherd.  Although I've seen some fairly VICIOUS Jack Russel's too....

Nevermind the horrible people that rear vicious animals - regardless of size.  We're all products of our environments, whether it's canine or human.

I'm a big believer in crate training too.  The potty training ease, plus the added peace of mind knowing that they're safe is worth the investment of a good crate.  I'm a worry-wort when puppies are small...the fact that you know they're not getting into stuff until their a little more mature & obedience trained.  It's very much worth it.

Everyone's Rotties are beautiful!  Below is a picture of my Rottie, Bodhi, with my Anatolian Shepherd, Zeka.  Bodhi's much bigger now - 110 lbs & my shepherd is about 150lbs.  The puppy in my avatar is the new Anatolian Shepherd that I'm picking up this weekend.  Very large puppies!
