thanks for your kind words .When i phoned breeder she said she has never had any problems with any of her pups and she couldnt understand it ,but the fact is she has been selling pups on internet as i said one litter after another ,on one site she said this is first litter of newfie pups in three years and i know this is all lies.Last night the vet had told me he it didnt look to good but if it means there is a chance that he can be pain free and operation may solve this,Iwill live in hope.

well i am living in hope.Dakota is really bad he cant get up on his feet he cant walk he is just lying peeing and pooing all over the place because he cant go outside. He is on pain killers which dont seem to be working he got a jab today for to settle his stomach also tablets for the fluid that has, built up in his right back leg,we are waiting for the verdict of specialist in fife to determine if an operation on his hips could help him Iam so pissed off i phoned breeder as i found out she has been selling litter after litter and im afraid i ended up telling her just exactly what i thought of her.All i want is for dakota to get better but to be honest i dont think it is going to happen it seems he is too old for one operation and too young for another,he is only 9 months old

i have been searching all day to see if i can see what kind of breeder i got dakota from. Well from what i can see she has sold one litter after another from £750 to£1000 it doesnt look to good how can this type of scum be aloud to carry on causing pain and greif to helpless young animals and their owners who trusted them

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Just a thoughtI

When i think back to before dakota got his xray his back legs were abit stiff and he was given the naracarp and it helped ,then he got his xray done and after that he was really bad with the pain.I was wondering could the vet have been a bit heavy handed with him as i understand they have to be xrayed on their backs and he did say he had to manouver his legs about quite a bit.just a thought,he seems abit better today not so miserable looking

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / stuck inside kennel
« on: September 01, 2006, 11:02:50 am »
Tonight hubby got stuck in kennel,as you probably know dakota has been finding it difficult to stand up when he has been sitting or lying down with his hip problems.Anywa y dakota had started to bark in the kennel i think he wanted a drink or something to eat and he couldnt get up,so my hubby went in the kennel and helped him to his feet.I had left his food outside the door along with his water,so he was sort of stuck in the doorway eating his food while hubby was still stuck inside kennel. He had to wait until dakota was ready to move before he could get out. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Vet has taken him off naracarp and said to give him paracetamol for two days to let his stomach settle down as he had also been sick a few times. His poo seems to be back to normal but is still in a lot of discomfort and cant get up to standing position by himself we have to lift him up till he gets his balance then he seems ok for a while. The vet has prescribed rimadryl to be taken twice daily until he gets opinion from specialist as to where we go next.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / I feel so sorry for him
« on: September 01, 2006, 01:45:09 am »
Took him to vet again he has took him off the naracarp i told him about his stools being black and he had been a bit sick so i have to put him on half a paracetamol for a couple of days to let his stomach settle and then he has to take two rimadyl daily until we know what is going to happen. The vet said  that it was both his hips that were bad he said they were very loose. He is obviously in pain as we have to help him up when he sits down and is just lying around all day its breaking my heart to see him like this.I want to take him for a walk but im to scared he will collapse Ijust feel so sorry for him.

Newfoundland Discussions / back to vet tomorrow yet again
« on: August 31, 2006, 02:56:10 am »
Felt really sorry for dakota last night he was obviously in a lot of pain and he had already had his two tablets of norocarp50mg which the vet prescribed for him,So i gave him another as i couldnt watch him in pain any longer.Iphoned vet this morning to ask if it was ok to give him an extra tablet he said going by his weight it was a bit more than he should be taking it seems he is only aloud 2and abit.He wants to see him tomorrow i think he is going to change his medication, still not got his results back yet to see how severe his hips are but judging by the way he is i am not too hopefull.I contacted breeder and she was surprise she said all the rest of the litter were alright and that she had kept two bitches for herself and they had no problems.Anywa y just have to wait and see what vet says tomorrow fingers and everything else crossed

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / have to wait and see
« on: August 29, 2006, 11:21:13 am »
Well .got dakotas xray done  this morning. It seems the results arent too good.He said the sockets are not tight enough and so they are moving,he is refering the xrays to a specialist in this feild and have to wait and see what happens next in terms of treatment.I got glucosomine today and vitamins so i hope this will help if not cure. Its been an odd day with dakota as he has been very groggy all day and is just now started to pace around crying a bit maybe feeling sorry for himself because he hasnt been walked today ,Im afraid he would have never made it to the end of the street because he just didnt want to move.I think it is going to be a restless night for us both as he has more or less been sleeping all day
