Newfs have gorgeous dispositions.  They are friendly, loyal and want to be the center of attention. My Newf comes up to me and puts his paw in my lap or leans his head on me when I'm watching t.v.  I have a Saint and he LOVES getting into bed---they've got fantastic dispositions, as well.  that IS a specific trait---Newfs are certain kinds of dogs, and their kindness and love is their hallmark.  They're hairy though!  Get ready for hair in the bed...

how wonderful. i'm currently fostering a saint bernard and have one newf and a chow mix geriatric dog.  i've got my hands full but can't stand if a dog is living a miserable life.  the rescue has another saint they'd like me to take but i don't think i can and it's breaking my heart.  thank you for rescuing that sweet boy.

Hey, I'm new here, but I just wanted to interject and say that I understand!  Clearly Newfs are big dogs, so when they mess in the house it can be quite a chore.  I am forever cleaning my carpets, removing stains and scrubbing my floors---and that's just from the dirt on my dogs' paws!  But I love them, of course, and will do what it takes.  Just last night, however, I plopped down on the couch with a glass of wine and I was just THROUGH.  Moose is a pup so he's all over the place and into everything;  I needed a good night's sleep!
