Ugh... i hate it when people are cold toward animals like that. Good for Buddy and Dollie that they have you, and that you have your own house.
My dad suggested i give up my dog too. And in my case it's worse because I'm living in his house. See, my mom doesn't like dogs. My dad does, but as my mom doesn't, he takes her side a lot. Weird thing is, my dad is the one who found the puppy on the street and brought her home. I immediately volunteered to look after her, cause my dad was planning on giving her away. Months later he suggested i get rid of her because she didn't 'function' as a dog. Meaning that she never barks when strangers approach the house. I don't care. I think it's better that she doesn't bark, otherwise my mom would be all annoyed because of all the noise. To me it's weird that they can't see that my pup doesn't have to 'do' anything, she's my baby!!! :D
Good for me that my parents put up with me. They may not feel the same way i do, but once we talked, they haven't brought it up again.
Also, i get made fun of by my sister. She tells me i need to have a baby or get a life, because i take 'too much' care of my dog. Those are the people that just have a dog to look pretty in the yard. They just go out to give them water and food and that's it.

Thanks for the info Great Pyr! Mmh... so should I be worried that my pup stares back at me? I don't remember her looking away... One time she startled me. She was sitting looking up at me, I stared her in the eyes, and she jumped up, touching her nose to mine, ouch! She even left a wet mark on my scarf.
Don't know what that was about...
She isn't dominant though, she is quite obedient, except if she's overly excited or when she has to go potty or drink water. She interrupts whatever we're doing, does the activity mentioned above, and after resumes where we left off.

Awww sweetie pie!  she does look very tired... surgery is always exhausting. She looks so cute snuggling with the pink piggy. Hugs and kisses for Phoebe, may she recover soon!

Thanks everyone!  ;D

Lol, I thought i was the only one who found her little nose so  ADORABLE!!! Poor thing, always has to endure a session of hugging and kissing before I play with her. I feel like Elmyra sometimes, haha.

And yeah, i know that look all too well. She has that inquisitive smart look, I can't help but look her straight in the eyes... I've read that you shouldn't look them in the eye cause they take that as a sign of agression ??? I'm not sure that's true, but whenever i stare at her too long she either jumps up at me or barks, i think she gets impatient, saying something like "stop staring and lets play!!!"

So I see it's hard to tell by just looks what breed she could have... I think she resembles Angel, who is 1/2 saint bernard, and looks a little bit like Tipper too, and Chammie, and Sam... and they are all different mixes. Just the pyr in common I guess.  It would be cool to find out for sure what she is with the dna test, maybe one day I'll do it. Thanks for the link GreatPyr!

Thanks again everyone! I'll be posting more pictures of her soon!  :)

Yeah she is. So cute and sweet. And very playful. She's always so happy!  :D

Mmh... you're right. Sam does look like her... I didn't notice at first because of the coloring. (Thanks for telling me who Sam is, hehe). Taking a second look I do see some resemblance there...
Haha, yeah, when sleeping is mainly the time that those ears come down.

Who's Sam? lol.
She IS cute isn't she?  ;D
And she's not even that photogenic, i always think she's looking particularly cute, i take the picture, and... let's just say i think the camera doesn't quite capture what I'm seeing in real life.
I don't know what she may have in her dna, some sort of shepherd i think.

Her ears are high on her head only when she's 'interested' in something (which is almost always, lol, she's very alert to everything). And mostly her white/tan ear!  Otherwise they're kind of flat on her head.

Hi everyone. I promised in my previous post i would upload some pictures of my dog. I think she looks a lot like a pyr i saw online... though as i mentioned before, she must not be all pyr because she's quite small compared to pyrs (weighing 45 lbs and coming in at 18 inches in height) and she lacks the pair of dew claws on her hind legs. She's about 8 months now.
Or maybe you know of another breed of dog that looks like this?

Thanks! She doesn't have any dew claws on her back legs, she just has a single dew claw on her front. I had read this about pyrs, so that and the fact that she's on the smaller side (I measured her, and she's 18 inches to her shoulders), tells me she's not a pure breed pyr. I'm speculating she may have some pyr genes in her, cause the resemblance is there... that's why i was asking about normal growth patterns for pyrs. I wondered if she may have the size of a pyr, apparently not though. Phew! lol. Big dogs are great, but my backyard isn't that big, and I'm pretty lanky so i worried that i would get dragged around when i take her out for a walk!

Oh! and no... i don't know what she's mixed with. I'm not even sure she has pyrenees in her, but it's stunning how much she looks like them. I hope that when i post more pictures you guys can comment on what you think she might be or may have in her mixture.

Thanks everyone! I'm sorry i hadn't reported back... After posting my browser shut down, and I couldn't find this site again. I just stumbled on it again luckily!
Julie, my dog looks a lot like your Chammie!!
I don't  have recent pictures of my pup here, but I'm posting one from when i first got her, she was 8 weeks here (according to the vet). But I will be posting new pictures, I hope i can get them up here by tomorrow.
I'm also posting a picture of an actual pyr i found on the net, that looks just like my dog. That will help give you a better idea of what she looks like for now, until i can post some actual recent picture of her.
And don't worry, Danelnsane, i don't mind. It's actually better to have my own thread. :)

I'm proudly owned by the cutest puppy... I have no idea what breed she is. I thought she was a mix of who knows what. I just stumbled upon a picture of a great pyrenees that looks just like my pup!! I was shocked!! I'm coming to know that great pyrenees are very large dogs, and my dog isn't that large, but then again, she's just about 8 months old. The last time i weighed her she was 45 lbs. I don't think she has gained weight or size since then, I'll have to check...
So, I'm wondering what's the normal growth rate of a dog of this breed? I'm trying to figure out if she could be a great pyrenees, or maybe she's mixed with a maremma shepherd (she looks a lot like those too, but she has orangey markings on her face and ears, and some faint spots on her body, and the maremma seem to be all white only). I first thought she could be a maremma, the description of size seems to fit her better, but as i mentioned, the maremma don't seem to have those types of markings or colors on face and ears.
Any input greatly appreciated!
I'll add a picture of my dog later, see if you guys can comment...
