General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Dead Squirrel
« on: August 27, 2009, 08:29:30 pm »
I headed out for a walk today with Gibson and Brandi and we spied a dead squirrel on the road. It was freshly killed. One of them got it and the chase was on. Here I am in the middle of the road with two 100 lbs. dogs having a tug of war with a dead squirrel. We headed for home, squirrel and all. We made it home and I throw the dead animal out in the long grass. I wish someone had a camera of this.

Brandi was on Presidents Choice and table scraps before I got her and in with three or four other Newfys. I am watching her and so far no sign of hot spots. I think I have very good vets and trust them completely.

There are no schools involved and I trust my vet completely. This is the first hot spot, I will watch but so far I am not concerned. The spot is healing up nicely. I think it has something to do with the two dogs play fighting and her hair is very thick. My daughters dog is on Hills too at a different vets office.

She gets Hills, from the vets off. She is on medication and it is healing up very quickly.

Brandi was to be neutered today but she has a hot spot on her hip so it is cancelled for two weeks. It came up in a hurry I brush them almost every day.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / New Foundland-Landseer
« on: July 24, 2009, 08:27:19 am »
I have been reading Landseer are not black and white New foundlands, but a breed of their own. I have noticed a real differnence in my two dogs. The texture of the hair and the way they walk among other little things.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Lets hope this works
« on: July 16, 2009, 12:12:40 pm »
I have 2 newfys. Gibson my 1 yr old male was going over the fence my son had put up.  Brandi, my 7 month old was going under. On the weekend we spent all day putting up a much better fence. It is about the size of 2 city lots and lots of trees for shade. When we were cleaning up after the work was done Brandi crawled under the fence( about a hr after it was built) Today I put an invisiable fence around the bottom of the new wire fence, we will see if that will keep her in.

That is Canadian. I did talk to the breeder. I changed her name after I got her. Called them and they said it would be looked after. I just wondered if I was rushing things and they would come yet, or I was to do it myself.

When I bought Gibson I got a pet certificate from the CKC.
He is a year old now. I just bought a female Landseer, New Foundland and in the mail I got a membership card for the CKC. Nothing about Brandi. It isn't really that important I wouldn't part with her and I know she is pure bread.
