For anyone who is still unclear of the donation situation, Michael and I are/were the only ones who ever had any information about that.

Thank you for clearing that up.
I'm sure many of us were still unclear, since this is the first I have seen the question addressed and answered.

To be clear though, BPO has not taken donations from members for a number of years (advertising seemed to cover the costs) and while I am extrememly dissapointed to say the least and understand the anger at the sudden change of events, there is no place for rumors. Hey, I'm still a mod. (so far) - you had to know that was coming ;)  :-* :-* :-*

Sorry was not trying to start a "rumor", while originally donations were sought in 2006 I did not think it had been years since the donation link was on the site.

Weren't at one time BPO members donating money to keep this site running? So members pay to keep a site running and then its owner sells it for profit?
The legalities seem a little off to me, but I'm no lawyer.  However one does not need to be a lawyer to know that ethically business practices such as this are way off.

Best of luck to Jamie and Michael.

FAQs about puppies / Re: Questions to ask a breeder???
« on: June 03, 2009, 10:55:12 am »
I do have the answers for some of the questions I listed.  Unfortunately she doesn't have the mom's info on Berner Garde but she did tell me they were all passing and I didn't write down the male's name so that I have to get so I can look him up.

While she may be responsible for listing the dog on Berner Garde, OFA does is automatically if the dog is tested and has passed (other then CERF which she would submit the paper work on). This would be stop 1 for me, check and see that the sire and dam has ALL of the required testing for the breed. Berners at this time are CHIC required to have Hips, Elbows, VwD, CERF and Cardiac.

Do not take the breeders word that they passed check the fact for yourself!

All the dogs passing results will show on one page like this...
http://www.offa.org/display.html?appnum=1360970#animal

Along with what you have listed I would also ask where the puppies are raised.

Have you not paid for the surgery yet?

If not, may I suggest Craiglists. I have collect vet funds for 2 dogs (not my own) using craigslist. Be honest in your post and ask for donations to be made straight to the vets office. This way folks know you are not profiting from it.

Good luck~

6 weeks is young to be away from her litter, plus to me she is very small for her age. Which leads me to beleive she has not thrived as she should. Coccidia and Giardia can both be tough on a young pup be sure to follow your vets full advise. As for sleeping pups that young do sleep alot but I would bring it up to your vet anyhow.

Canned pumpkin, replace 1/3 of his dry kibble with canned pumpkin (not the pie filler stuff).

Sad part is there isn't much you can do to stop it other then contacting breeders. However the breeders who will care are the good ones, the ones they will not go to for a pup any how. I guess the only thing you can do is step in after the pup is there and call the animal cruelty investigators to help.

I do have a question though, you said:
"They also have a three year old in the house that is one of those type of horrid kids who take pleasure in kicking animals."

Who is taking care of this 3 yo if they sleep all day? Also is this child abused?

I feel the spray bark collars work far better then the shock ones, but maybe thats just been on the dogs I have tried one on.
Good luck, to me telling a Pyr not to bark is like telling a Beagle not to sniff.
