Greyhound Discussions & Pictures / Gingko and Radar!
« on: July 17, 2005, 05:50:08 pm »
Hi everyone,

Looks like I am FINALLY going to be able to pick up Radar, our new grey, on Saturday!

As some of you know, he was diagnosed with a cancerous growth but when they cut him open, they found that it was just some fatty lumps under the skin. Since then, poor Radar has split his stitches three times! Poor fella has had a bucket on his head for a month and we haven't even been able to meet him yet  :(

Well, it looks like he is on the mend and we're booked in to pick him up on Saturday (provided he and Gingko get along okay!)

Since I last wrote, Gingko has challenged me and bitten me (no blood but gave me a shock) and I've had to do some 'tough love' on him. He is no longer allowed to sleep on the couch and he has to wait for his dinner until I say etc. He seems happier now that he knows his place and we have been having lots of smooches and have had no conflict at all since then.

I just can't wait to pick Radar up!

Greyhound Discussions & Pictures / Mast Cell tumor- any experience?
« on: June 19, 2005, 06:23:32 pm »
Hi all,

I was supposed to go and meet my new grey Radar on the weekend, however, on his 'final' vet check-up it was discovered he may have a Mast Cell Tumor.

The vet is going to remove the lump and send it off for testing but I'd love to know if anyone has had any experience with this kind of cancer?

I hope he is okay and his foster mum isn't too stressed by all this either!

Introduce Yourself to the Forum / Gingko
« on: May 30, 2005, 08:49:18 pm »
Hi all,
I joined the group a little while back but thought it was time I got my bum into gear and posted some pictures!

A little about my grey Gingko:

Gingko was rescued from an RSPCA shelter with one day to go by a foster carer for an adoption program.

Gingko had no name and was painfully shy. His ex owner simply said 'he wasn't fast enough'.

Gingko is scared of men but slowly got better in his 4 weeks with the foster carer and 2 greys, he also passed a test which ment he didn't have to wear a muzzle in public as is law in our state.

Gingko came to our house all shy but was startled by the chooks, slipped his collar, and ran off. He was missing for 3 days as he didn't know his name and ran when called. He was finally trapped in the river by a kind farmer and the town was on alert as I'd told everyone about his disappearance. .. that was one day after we bought him home!

Gingko is now a far more settled boy. He is not at all shy of my partner Chris and runs for cuddles, he knows his name (though he doesn't always come to it!), he can even handle surround sound and a cuckoo clock! (and thats a big deal for Gingko.

He is a bit chubbier and cleaner now too!

Now for the pics!
