Anything Non-Dog Related / Thank you Tina
« on: August 26, 2005, 09:54:57 pm »
Thank you for your reply Tina. And say hi to Jack from me. Just like Jack, Sam, had very little training, probably NO training at all. Anyways, i started training Sam, with very good results, from the moment we got Sam. The only thing i forgot about, was the rest of our family. I started spending as much time as i could with Sam.  And the results were amazing.  Sam is a good dog, one on one with me.  But now he thinks that he it is me and him. He jumps our son, trying to hump. and he tries to challenge our son, to be as fearless as our Sam is, he looks at me everytime, like he is trying to say, look at me boss, i am just as furious as you are, when he runs over,  or jump into my son, or wife. Never stopping until i tell him to stop, and every once in a while, when i tell him to stop, he goes just crazy and runs into circles for minutes until he gets tired.

Great Pyrenees Discussions / So how did you do it.......... ?

We are very lucky to have Sam as being a part of our family.
Sam, when being with me, is an excellent, example, and perfect dog when one on one with me alone. I just have to whisper a command and Sam will obey. But when other family members are around, like our son and my wife, Sam seems to forget all the training and discipline we both went through, the last couple of months. Sam thinks that i am the mubero uno in the pack, and that he is numbero two. My wife and son should become first. what did i do wrong ? Should i involve my wife and son into the training of our puppy dog Sam ? If so, please give us some deatailed advice so we can try and tell you about the results. Our Sam is half Turkish shepherd and half great pyrenee. 11 months old now and not nutered yet.

Sam came into our family when he was 7 months.

Behavior, Housebreaking, Obedience / Introduction and some questions

Hi, i am so glad to have found this web site. Thumbs up.
Attached is a picture of Sam. Sam is an Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix. We got Sam when he was about six months old. He is 10 Months old now and he is doing really good. We all enjoy Sam every day. Sam is a good listener. Especially one on one. Sam likes to be with us and is very protective, which is in his nature. Allthough training Sam is going well, there are some things that i can use some advice on. For one, Sam likes to eat everything he find that is dead, like birds, frogs and yes, even poop, especially cat poop....  Furthermore, Sam likes to Jump, which is especially bothering our child. One more thing, Sam is doing extremely well while walking him on his leach. And when the walk is almost over and we enter our property again, We like to unleash Sam so he can run. But, As soon as off the leah, Sam will wonder off and when we call Sam, he will not attend or listen. I have to bribe him with a treat to make him come to us again. Any suggestions ?
