Rare Breed Mastiff Pictures / Under the collar
« on: April 02, 2006, 08:11:42 am »
Halo's dew lap formed like a funnel from his chin down his neck under his collar. The skin got wet and now its all red and stinks! You can see how much skin he has under his neck. I can fit my hand under his collar.
He tries to lick under his chin but can't reach. Just passing it on incase it happens to anyones dog.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Poor Brindle!!
« on: January 25, 2006, 12:08:49 am »
Brindle has a cyst or some kind of tumor on his rectum. It opened and bled today. We rushed to his vet at noon. seems, in his opinion, that its caused by a testerone build up. He is not fixed. He will be on Monday. They will also biopsy the "thing" to see what it is. Probably not cancer but they want to be sure. So we will have Brindle and Halo with bell collars on next week. Plus they need to be seperated anyway as they don't really seem to like eachother anymore. So please send good vibes for Brindle now. Thank you.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Halo Update
« on: January 22, 2006, 01:17:25 pm »
Thank you for all of your support. The vet got the culture back and says its a bacterial infection. Today he starts a new antibiotic called Trimethaprine, however you spell it. LOL. He didn't have to get the bandage changed yesterday so he wasn't sedated. They had the water bowl on the floor of the cage and he kept knocking it over. I said maybe they should raise it like it is at home? No it doesn't spill and he drinks it all. DUH. He's been eating everything I bring up there. 8 lbs. of chicken since Friday night is gone along with the 10 lbs of kibble. His appetites back. LOL. Anyway he will be there until Thursday at the earliest now. Penny has started looking in his crate and crying and whining a few times a day. She misses him. Brindles happier without him unfortunatly. I don't think they will be able to be together anyomore. Time will tell. Keep the vibes coming please. It comforts my wife and myself to know we are not alone.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Halo Thanks You...
« on: January 05, 2006, 10:09:35 pm »
and so do I. We were really worried about this surgery and x Rays. His hips are very good. The luxated patella has been fixed and he is in recovery mode at home. To relate to your protection stories, we stopped at a 7-11 after picking him up. We have a luxurey van that he can see out of the large windows. Groggy and uncomfortable as he was he still would NOT let anyone near the van or me. Women only got a growl but men got the full blast. He even jumped at the window when a guy came to the next car. He is recovering very well. Makes it up and down the 4 steps to outside. He did growl and bark at Penny from his crate when ahe got too close but was only home an hour and hadn't seen her yet. Hasn't done it since. thanks again for the positive thoughts. Our family appreciates it.

He will be going Tuesday for his Luxated Patella. Wish us luck please? Then it's 3 months of leash only walking and seperation from Penny and Brindle. He cries now if he's not near them, so some sleepless nights are coming. Lol.
