Treatment & Preventative Meds / Petaprin - for 6 month old Puppy?
« on: January 10, 2007, 01:11:36 pm »
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Petaprin.  The website makes it sound like a miracle cure.  I have heard that Rimadyl is not a good medication for any dog's liver but especially a young one.  My pup has "moderately" bad hips and also a torn cruxiate ligament on her left leg. We are not sure how it happened.  The vet said that surgery was not an option because she was too young but Rimadyl does not seem to be a good management medication.  Any help, advice would be greatly appreciated.  She currently takes a supplement of glucosamine/chondrotin everyday.  And is only leash walked outside.  Not much fun for a 6 month old yellow lab.

Labrador Retriever Discussions / Labs in Apt.s
« on: August 28, 2005, 02:37:59 pm »
Can I get an idea of what everybody thinks of labradors living in an apartment?  I had a lab before that spent her youth in a rural area but lived in a small apartment in NYC from time to time.

I have a roommate that is against"large dogs" in the apt.  I was just wondering what some of your thoughts were.

Energy levels, when a puppy, when older wtc - if you lived in an apartment.  I know people live in apartments with even larger breeds.  Anything you got would be helpful

thanks in advance

Introduce Yourself to the Forum / New Member Intro

I am a new member to BPO, I found it through craigs list.  My only dog, a yellow lab had to be put down last year.  She was the best dog ever.  I was devastated when she was gone.  I have not yet added another four-legged member to my family because I am in law school and do not have the time or resources to devote to a new animal.
I live in a rented apt. with roommates, so a dog really isn't possibly now.  In one year, after graduation thats another story.  I figure I have a year to do research.

I just have to say that I love hearing about everyone's furry families.  It makes me feel closer to having one of my own again.  Hope everyone is happy and healthy.

I had a yellow labrador for 13 years.  We had to have her put to sleep last year.  I want to get another dog in the future.  I have to finish school first, one more year.  I want to be more educated about rescue adoption etc.  problems and benefits any information from your own experiences would be greatly appreciated.
