12 weeks old today. The last 4 pics were from this morning when we took off his tape to bathe him (he was kinda stinky). Haha!!

Doberman Discussions / Boston is home!!

Dave and I picked up Boston last Sunday!! We've been so busy, so I haven't been on in awhile. 2 weeks ago was our Florida trip, which was wonderful (thanks for all the ideas, guys!). Then, we got Boston the day after we returned home.
I was laid off on Monday, so I've been going nuts looking for a new job, having Boston around, and of course the holidays too! Did my shopping on Black Friday. Yikes! What a week!
Boston's doing great here! He and the cat are getting used to each other. He is active and happy, only a couple accidents in the house. He was itching his recently-cropped ears, so he's stuck in an e-collar now. Healing wonderfully!!
Well, I'm waiting for Walgreens to finish my pictures (they had a paper jam, so photo shop is down). Then I will be posting so photos of the new boy at home!! YAY!!!

I've noticed several of your posts, Ashley. You and Hugo look so happy!! He is ultra-handsome, and looks so sweet! I'm sure that we are all looking forward to getting to know the 2 of you!
By the way, I am Stacy. My Doberman, Boston, will be coming home to me on Nov 19! I'm so excited! He's almost 7 weeks old, and is a cute little goober!

4 weeks and 3 days old... They are getting big and naughty!! Boston was the first puppy to become a master at escaping the pool. He thinks he's a tough boy now too. And of course I had to include a picture of the rest of the litter w/mom (big enough to eat while she's standing, poor girl!)
And if anyone is interested, there are still 3 black males available, healthy and handsome!

He is arriving in his bouncy, goofy puppy stage. He's asleep in the new picture above, but of course that was after his jumping and pouncing.
He was the most laid-back in the litter, but he's starting to get active and vocal and play more, which is exciting. I can tell I'm gonna have my hands full though, he's the little instigator!! Haha!

Food Discussion & Information / Opinions on Innova, please

I've still got about a month before we bring Boston home, but I just want to be prepared.
The breeder is starting him on Nutro Natural Choice, but I've been hoping to find him food with less grains and more meat/fruit/veggies. Innova looks excellent, based on ingredients, but I read on epinions.com that it is too rich for some dogs. Any thoughts??

Yup, we finally named the little guy...Boston's Black Monster. Here are some pictures him and his littermates.

Behavior, Housebreaking, Obedience / Bringing Pup Into a Cat Home...HELP!

Okay, I live w/my parents (just outta college). Dave has his own home. The puppy will live in Dave's house, starting mid-November. Eventually, my cat and I will live with Dave. So...
Every time I go to Dave's, the cat comes with me (several days at a time). This way, she will be used to his place and comfy in it. Also, the house will smell like her. I'm hoping that this lets the new puppy know that another animal lives here, and has lived here first (maybe establishing a little seniority for my kitty). I'm just hoping to get some tips to help both animals cope with arriving at a new home and getting along together.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just want to make this as smooth a transition as possible for the puppy and Madison (for Dave and I, too!)

Anything Non-Dog Related / Going to Florida

Dave and I will be down in Florida (Sarasota/Bradenton area)in November. Also going to Orlando for a day or two. Just wondering if anyone knew of any sights, events, attractions, etc that we just shouldn't miss! All I can think of right now is sailing in the Gulf and going to Universal or something. Maybe some tidbits that most tourists don't know about would be nice...

Collars, crates, & other cool things / How tall of a crate will my Dobe need??

Getting ready for the new puppy, but I'm not sure how tall his crate should be. I plan on getting the divider like everyone suggests so he can grow into it, but I want a nice height that he can be comfy in when he's full-sized. Any suggestions?? Certain brands/models that are geared toward larger dogs??

Here are the latest pics of the Dobe puppies, born September 17. The four in the first pic are the males. The one in the last pic is the one that I believe Dave and I will be getting. We're very excited, and I'll make sure to post more pics as they grow!!!

I'm new to the website. Just found it and wanted to be a part of the family. Boyfriend and I are getting our first dobe (my first, his second). They were just born on September 17, and I will get to stop over and visit the little ones on the 20th. I'm bringing my digital camera, so there are pictures to come soon!
