I see Uno, the Best in Show winner of the Westminster, all the time at work. He is a big time traveler! This last time he was here, my co-worker took a picture of us together. Just thought I'd share. He is such a sweet dog. And here is a pic of him in the airline seat as well. He's such a frequent traveler!!

Behavior, Housebreaking, Obedience / He Has a Squirrel Obsession!
« on: September 05, 2008, 12:12:14 pm »
For Real. He Does.

A few weeks ago Mike was taking Miles on a walk and Miles basically pulled Mike into the bushes. He came out with a dead squirrel in his mouth (Miles not Mike)! :o :o :o :o I'm not sure if Miles realized it was dead. He always tries to chase squirrels and play with them on our walks now. He has gone as far as trying to climb a tree ::). And now he'll just stare out the window for hours and watch the squirrels and whine and do his "play" bark.

Who also has a squirrel obsessed dog!?

Medical Conditions & Diseases / HD, Growing Pains, or Something Else?
« on: August 29, 2008, 08:30:53 pm »
:o :o :o Today I took Miles for a walk down to the lake. I let him swim for a bit, then we walked home. On the way back, I happened to put my hands on his hips to sort of guide him/get the show on the road....he was being a slow poke because he saw another dog. (Procrastinator just like his mom ::)) Anyway, I put my hands on his hips and I felt them pop has he walked! It scared the bejeezus out of me!!!

Now, I'm all freaked out that he's got major hip issues. Which, If I didn't put my hands there, I never would have known! He acts the same as he always does. No issues getting up or down. He runs and jumps and plays, just like a happy healthy 120 pound puppy would.

Obviously you guys are not veterinarians, and I know the only way to know for sure would be to take him to the vet, but what do you guys think about this "popping"? It's not a noise maker, I just FELT it. And like I said, I never would've known if I didn't put my hands on his hips. Do you think he has hip dysplasia, do you think he's just growing into his joints, or do you have a different idea?

Never the less, I gave him some glucosamine today! Now, about how many mg should I be giving per day?

Anything Non-Dog Related / Should I Be Concerned??
« on: August 08, 2008, 10:39:32 am »
Ok, well let's see if I can put this in a nutshell....

A couple weeks ago there was a homicide in my building...I'm in was 205. To make a long story short, the 19 year old guy strangled the 18 year old girl. They had just moved in together and were getting ready to go to college together at the univeristy of wisconsin-milwaukee. (I live very close to campus).

I ended up being on the news (Miles too!) regarding the situation. I didn't really want to be, but I just cannot say no to people! I need to learn to use it more often. Not only was I on the news, but so was my NAME and Building Address.

First off, let me say, I cannot BELIEVE they put my whole name on the news!!! They should have to ask before they can just go and do that! The worst part of it is I have received 5 letters from 3 different jails from PRISONERS that saw me on the news and want to be "pen pals". Two even included pictures.

I don't know if I should be worried or not? I'm sure they write to numerous girls they see on tv when enough information is provided to them, like name and address, but what if they get out of jail, and have a hit list or something!? People that don't write back, so then they come after them. It's creepy.

So someone was KILLED in my building, and now I have prisoners writing to me.....I want to move. :P :-\

Tomorrow, I am going to Cedar Point (Amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio for those of you that aren't familiar). So I'm flying to Cleveland tomorrow. Going there...then leaving Cleveland the day after (Thursday) to go to ROME. Wooohooo. I'm so excited. I haven't been on much lately because I've been working a TON. And trying to plan this trip in less than a month. I miss you guys!!

Once I come back from Italy though, I should have more free time on my hands!

I'll only be there for 4 days, but at least it's a little "taste" of italy.  ;)

I hope everyone is doing well! I'll be back soon!Smooches to all the pooches :-*

Treatment & Preventative Meds / Oh Miles....Good Goin'!
« on: July 16, 2008, 09:35:26 am »
Miles just got 3 new stuffed animals. One of which is a bear with a plastic nose. I knew he'd get it off eventually. But not in record time. Less than one minute. I heard it in his mouth, so I got to him, and yep, he swallowed it. :o ::) He usually NEVER swallows things like that!! Now what? I guess wait and hope it passes? Do you think it will? I mean, it was sort of big.....not GIANT, but like...maybe 1/2 an inch in diameter. What do you think?

P.S. All the other stuffed animals do NOT have anything plastic attached. haha

Collars, crates, & other cool things / Miles' Blocky Dogs Collar
« on: June 27, 2008, 08:28:39 am »
I just love it! It's soooo awesome. But Miles' hair is TOO LONG. I want to shave around his neck, so you can see this collar!!! I attempted to take some pics. It's sorta hard to see through all his hair!

Can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday he was just a little baaaaby!!!!

He's got a cake in the oven now. And earlier we went to the lake. He looooves going to the lake. With the sandy beach and all. (You know how pyrs love to dig!!! He goes crazy for it!)I got him a few toys and his Blocky Dogs collar was finally shipped today which I have been so patiently waiting for (thought I'd have it for his birthday but it took a bit longer than expected  ;) I cannot wait til it arrives!!!)

Happy Birthday to Miles. ;D

Ok, I really just need to vent, maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe I'm not. Anyway....I think my boyfriend has anger issues.

For example, today we went to Costco (woohoo! I love that place!!), and we were bringing things in from the car, and the sleeve of his shirt got caught on a nail or something sticking out, and it put a small hole in it. I can understand being mad about this, but what does he do? Start cussing up a storm, and slamming things down on the counter, and banging his fist on the cupboards and throwing his shoes at the chairs, and basically acting like the most immature person ever.

And this is just an example of how he acts.

The other day Miles chewed a corner of one of his records (A TINY BIT), but it was brand new, and I didn't want him to yell at the dog, so I gave him the money to buy a new one (even though the record itself was fine, but he likes his records and cd's to be in tip top shape. I think he likes those more than he likes myself sometimes. ::))

Oh, and one time he had his laptop laying on the ground, and Miles accidentally stepped on it and broke a key off. Oh god, all He** broke loose. He was throwing things and pounding on the floor, and he even pushed the dog. I had to take Miles for a walk because he was freaking out so bad (my boyfriend, not Miles). This is the only time he has pushed him, because I told him he better not touch my dog again, or I'll be gone, but sometimes I wonder why I deal with this Sh**. I love him when he's normal, and doesn't get mad about things, but sometimes I really wonder if it's worth it. He knows he has anger issues, and all he says to me when I talk to him about it is, "I can't help it". And That's pretty much the end of it.

Anyway, I just needed to vent. I think I feel a bit better now. :) Thank you for listening. ;)

P.S. We've lived together for a year and a half, and we don't even talk about getting married, and having kids someday. Which is fine with me. I don't want to marry his angry a** some days. hahaha But at the same time, I can't imagine living without him. Confusing? I think so!!!

Ok, now I'm done. :)

Anything Non-Dog Related / NDR-Italy
« on: June 03, 2008, 10:32:34 am »
Hmmm. Ok....sooooo this girl I work with is getting married in Italy at the end of July and she really wants me to go....(and I really want to!). I've never been to Italy...or Europe for that matter. My only thing is...I would only be able to go for a couple days because of work. The wedding is July 26th and I would only be able to take off work July 24th-July 28th. I'd have to be back to work no later than the 29th.

My question is...Should I just forget about going if I can only go for a short amount of time? Am I going to have major jetlag? What is the time difference anyway? And do they speak english in italy? hahaha I would most likely be going out there with a friend from work, but coming back by myself.

Holy freakin' cow, I'm about to rip off the right side of my face!!!!!!! :o

One of my wisdom teeth is coming in, and it is pretty much killing me. My mouth is not big enough to accomodate for this thing! But I dont want to run to the dentist (it's only been like 3 days of pain so far) because (1) I hate the dentist and (2) I'm thinking if I just wait it out a bit longer, it will get better eventually. It's not the actual tooth that hurts. It's my mouth/gums/(now also throat). And that numbing crap does NOT work. My cheek is pretty much swollen too.

Anyway...any advice?

Pretty much I can't open my mouth very wide right now either...or chew for that I've resorted to a strictly liquid and mashed potato diet. (Although yesterday I managed to smoosh a burrito flat enough to fit in my mouth from taco bell. hahaha

I'm a pathetic baby. I hate the dentist. :P

And he's a healthy boy.

I had to take him in for his heartworm test (which was negative). I've had him on heartworm since he was just a little baby, so I would've had a heart attack if it was positive.

He weighs 103 pounds :o We saw the vet today that told me he was only going to be about 90-100 pounds full grown. He said..."man, was I mistaken. He really shot up." He's thinking he's now going to be on the larger end of pyrs. Probably a good 140 pounds at least. :o After that, I am seriously thinking of getting an SUV. hahaha No joke.

I also had them clip his nails since I can never get more than one clipped each time I do it. They had to have 3 people help but they got the job done! Yay! 21 dollars later.....holy cow, I about had a heart attack when I saw how much they charged for nails. But he did need them done, so oh well.

He was so well behaved (for the most part)...but the biggest baby while we were there. He was still good though so after we went to the pet store and got a bone and a beef stick.

Just wanted to let you know how great he's doing. What a difference between 10 weeks and 10 months! 10 weeks old he's at the E-vet and 10 months he's as healthy as can be. ;D
Happy Boy-With the one stuffed animal still surviving in this house.(Taken yesterday)

Anything Non-Dog Related / NDR-I got a bike!
« on: May 02, 2008, 01:52:55 pm »
Holy cow, am I excited!!! I got a bike. And it's a pinkish purple color. And I'm so excited!!! In august I'm going to do this Bike MS tour. It's 2 days (august 2 and 3). It goes from Milwaukee to Whitewater to Madison. Which is 150 miles give or take. It's something I've never done before, and it's sounds like a huge challange, so I'm going for it! I haven't been on a bike in 6 years you guys! But I still know how to ride (I tried out 3 different ones). Whew! I'm so excited!

P.S.Plus it's to raise money for MS...and my sister has it...soooo I'm all for it. I have to raise at least 300 to participate, but I'm sure I can do it. ;D

Modified to add a pic (unfortunately it does not do the bike justice):
