We just inherited a new member to our family.  His name is Brady and we are told he is an American Mastiff.  He's five months old but seems very small compared to the Mastiff's I'm looking at online.  I would guess he weighs about 40 lbs.  The person we got him from swears he is a purebred American Mastiff but was the runt of the litter, thus the reason he was sold for $200.  My concern is that he seems thin (ribs are showing but not really bad) and we are noticing blood in his poop.  We are going to schedule a vet appointment for him but I thought I would post here and see if anyone has any thoughts.  He's eating 3 cups 2x a day, Pedigree Puppy.  No other signs of him being sick other than the blood in the stool.

I will post pics as soon as I figure it out!

Saint Bernard Pictures / My Beautiful Girl Bella!
« on: July 27, 2011, 01:23:51 pm »
Here is our girl, Bella aka BooBoo!  She is just about to turn 7 next week.  She is one of the most loving dogs we have ever had (also have 2 Newfs)!  Lately Bella has been peeing inside the house though which she has never done before.  Usually near an exterior door.  Any thoughts?[/b] ???

Newfoundland Discussions / Sheba is Limping on her back paw!
« on: November 14, 2009, 11:50:26 am »
I got home this morning and I noticed that Sheba was walking funny so I took a closer look and she is not putting any weight at all on her back left leg!  She tends to limp here and there after resting for awhile but nothing like this - she wouldn't even come to me for a cookie!  I always worry about the ACL tears with my 3 Big Paws and I fear that we may be facing just that with her.  We noticed a prickly branch near where she was sitting but I don't see anything in the pads.  Of course, the vet just closed at 1:00 so I don't know if I should take her to the Animal ER or wait until Monday and have her checked.

What do you guys think?  Advice anyone? :'(

Newfoundland Discussions / New Pictures of ShebaLou & Guinness
« on: May 27, 2009, 03:09:27 am »
I know I said I would post some pictures of Sheba & Guinness and have taken forever to get them done but at long last, my beautiful girl and my handsome boy!  Guinness is the landseer/mix.  I couldn't leave out Bella, the St. Bernard either!  Bella has been limping on her right front leg lately and we can't pinpoint it down.  She was diagnosed with Moderate Hip Dyplasia when she was a puppy and will be on Rimadyl for the remainder of her life.  It breaks my heart to hear her cry out when she tries to get up off the floor and she can no longer get up on the bed.  All this and she is only just turning 5!!  Any suggestions, other than Glucosamine?  Someone told me that Fish Oil helps too.  Has anyone heard that one?

Newfoundland Discussions / New to BPO - Meet ShebaLou!
« on: January 11, 2009, 03:46:40 pm »
Hi Everyone!

We are new to the BPO posts but definitely not new to the forums!  We have visited regularly and read everyone else's posts and thought it was about time we say hi!

We are proudly owned by our two Newfoundlands, Sheba and Guinness and our St. Bernard, Bella (my love)!  Our girls are 5 and 6 years old and our big guy, Guinness is now 7 years old.  My how time flies!!  We recently moved down to Florida from New Hampshire and I think the kids still haven't forgiven us...LOL!  They want to know where all the snow went!!  Although, I took Sheba swimming yesterday at the Palma Sola Causeway and she absolutely loved it (pictures to come later)!  These forums are great and I have come here many times when I wasn't sure about something with one of the kids but I always found my answers here!

Looking forward to sharing stories and getting to know everyone on the BPO forums!

Tami
