Old English Mastiff Discussions / Re: Food Choices
« on: October 19, 2005, 07:38:20 am »
I have mastiffs and I have always feed them Nutro brands!  I started when they both were puppies and I never switched brands.  I did my research, read the ingredients of all dog foods, and thought I made the right decision...  Now I am thinking I may need to switch or use an added supplement of gluco & condr. (spelling?)  Anyway, I would interested to know that that magazine lists as preferred foods for large breeds.  Thanks for the advice!

I do have to say that their coats are so soft and smooth, their teeth are strong, and they smell great.

You have just made the best decision of your life!  I have and English - who is a healthly 130lbs male and a Bull - who is a "chuncky" 100 lbs girl.  These babies are the sweetest, most loving dogs!  I have to agree with another poster, they will follow you everywhere around the house, lie on you feet, drool all over the place, and they think they are lap dogs!  Have fun and they will love YOU more than you could ever love them, imagine that!

Congratulation s!

Oh, BOY!  I feel like I am reading my life stories!!  I am constantly cleaning and caring for the three kids (2 dogs and the sig. other) - I never get a second!  I LOVE my dogs (yeah, the boyfriend too), but it is very hard to keep up with it all and work 50+ hours/week.  This may be true for all of you, but if my boyfriend greeted me at the door like my babies do, then I may give HIM more attention!!  HA!!

I love pics and I had to add one of mine!  Livi, FM BullMastiff,  is lying on my king size bed (which, she thinks it's hers!)  Jax, M English Mastiff, and Livi are posing together, waiting for a treat.  Being a dog lover, you can understand the various personalities each dog has and they just make you laugh!  Thanks!

AH!  Too funny (Too cute!)  My English Mastiff is counter level - never mind the table!  I have a breakfast bar that we use to eat at or we would be dining with our pups every meal!  Oh, and their tails never stop!  We have lost a drink or two right off the coffee table in one quick swoop!  NO!  Not the BEER!

Mixed Breed Discussion / Re: Pits?

You are a life saver!  Please post pics if you can.  I think the Pit breeds are such wonderful dogs.  It's too bad the breed is considered mean and dangerous.  Just like human beings, though, being brought up in the wrong environment can cause good dogs/people to go bad.  Good luck!

Too funny!  I am 4'11'' and walk my English Mastiff around town.  His back comes up to my hips and people yell out - "Who's walking who?"  Joke gets old after a while, but it must be funny to watch.  Even when he gets excited and somewhat uncontrollable during our walks, he knows not to jump/pull too much.  He is such a sweet, gentle, and very protective boy!

I have an English Mastiff (male) and a BullMastiff (female), which both are fixed.  I was told that opposite sexs are a much better and safer mix when it comes to the Mastiffs living in the same house.  They both have completely different personalities - the EM loves to cuddle and just be next to you at all times and the Bull likes her space and be alone.  I am not sure if these are common traits, but they compliment each other.  They get along great, they always play and cuddle together.  I am very pleased with my two and I will always love the Mastiff!  Thanks.

What a wonderful service you provide!  You make a world of difference each and everyday for these people.  Keep up the great work!  I wish I could become involved in something like this with my dogs.  They are so sweet and loveable, they just have so much to offer.  I am going to have to look into something like that within my area.  Thanks!
