Brandon (aka Boo) is three years old and was retired a year this September.
He is very laid back and relaxed fellow.
He sleeps on the couch on his back with his feet up in the air running...lol

Thanks for asking about him he is our beautiful baby boy!!

Greyhound Discussions & Pictures / Re: Adopting a Greyhound??

 :)
We adopted our Brandon a few months ago now and they matched him to us...(however when going to the site he is who I picked)
He is AMAZING with our kids (2 and 3...so small enough to run around and play) he is NOT small dog friendly exept for one small poodle (MIL'S) They get along but anyone or anything else...look out.
I have had a couple friends who adopted right off the track and had some adjustment problems...cag e aggression.
I suggested perhaps it's because "benny" is right off the track and so was my other friend's dog.
Has anyone else had a grey that was fresh off the track and had cage aggression.
Our Brandon is so amazing he is just loveable and not aggressive whatsoever.  Mind you he is "man hear him roar" when other dogs are around they "bow" down to him so he stays pretty happy.
Let your friends know that they should do some reading and perhaps if they do not have the energy or patience to deal with a younger grey to look into a little oler 3 and up perhaps...also I wonder if getting a grey not so fresh off the track can make a difference? (Brandon was off the track 5 mos when we got him)

Thanks
Jennifer

I think the more we are out there the more people will see these beautiful "furbabies" and perhaps will want to take one home.
They are amazing...ever ything about them you would think the way they are treated they would be out to hurt you but they are so gentle.
Thanks for the great welcome all.

By the way THANKS alot for the advice about the yogurt and the oil....I will be buying some at the grocery store tomorrow.

Lucy is NOT our other dog for the record...it's wildlonewolf's girl.
If you notice his ears are bent...funny I heard someone say the other day..."that looks like a greyhound but not with those ears"....I replied you look almost human exept for your nose...LOL ;)

I love this site!!
We own a Greyhound we adopted out of Michigan (REGAP) a few months ago and I have to say we are in LOVE with him.
He is amazing..we have owned may breed of dogs and even some cats and still nothing will compare.
This site is great for advice and sharing thoughts and stories of others with this breed as well as others.
I am so glad it's here for us to ask and others to answer.
Thanks for the site!!
Where we live there is not many Greyhounds around so it's nice to see other of these amazing "furbabies" being adopted out and off the race track.  The things that some of them do to these animals it's amazing how well they are with families.
All they want is to be loved and taken care of.

 ;D
Hi all I am pretty new to this site and wanted to say about this bed thing...Our beautiful boy Brandon never went in our bed or on the couch ever...we assumed he was taught that was a no..no..
We had to go away for a few days and had a friend watch him (she owns a greyhound so she understand's their needs)
NOW he is on the bed/couch/love seat and kids bed...
We can't get him down if we coaxed him with a treat.
(oops I said that too loud..he heard me...lol)
So now our 45mph couch potato has given up his nice bed on the floor (a huge huge pillow and two square pillows for his head to lay on) for the couch or our king size bed...
I think I might have to get a bigger bed or move into the kids room for more space and just give up all together...lol

;D I love your babies, I am very new here and just adopted a greyhound recently (aprox 1.5 mos now) and I am head over heals in love with him.
We did look at pictures but they match you up to your pet (regap) and the picture I fell in love with is the baby they set us up with....Your dogs are absolutely beautiful and just wanted to stick my nose in and say that...
Thanks this site is great!!
