Hi,Definate dito from me on the puppy food topic! I have a funny pic for you at about 8 months Bubba was all legs. So very gangly. He went is spurts where he would get thin and tall and then fill out then get thin and tall again...For a while there he was taller in the rear than in the front. We thought it was going to be a problem but before we could take him to his breeder to have him looked at his front caught up.But boy did he look funny walking around with his rear in the air.He always apeared to be walking downhill :D

Saint Bernard General Discussions / Who's dog is BIGGEST???
« on: August 19, 2006, 01:28:12 pm »
Hi, I was just wondering who the BIGGEST dog in the group was? Has BPO ever done a weigh in? Or what about the tallest or longest? That would be fun to know!!!

There are quite a few Saints on here.I really wonder which of all the breeds has the most members?

Bubba used to tear up every stuffed toy he came across...even ones that weren't his! We started buying him the ones from walmart as they were cheaper(Like you said they only last a moment). The one that has been around the longest was one with no squeeker and no hard nose or eyeballs. It seems if there is not a hard object to chew on inside or attached he doesn't try to tear it apart to get to it. Hope this helps :)

Hi all, I have been out of the loop for quite some time. My name is Heather and I am in Oregon with my DH and two children and our Saint named Bubba, who is now 17 months old.His weight seems to flexuate between 180 & 190. He is definately going to be LARGE when he is done growing. Well I just wanted to say Hi and now I'm off to read more posts!!! Here is a newer pic. of Bubba.

Saint Bernard General Discussions / Re: When to neuter?
« on: August 16, 2006, 12:33:18 pm »
We did all those things with our Bubba at 3 1/2 months he went to jr obedience and our son did most of the training also he was the one to feed and water, also any time they were to go thru a doorway we always made sure that our son went thru before Bubba to establish a sorta pecking order...so to speak. We made sure our son went before the dog for everything even getting in the car! Nothing worked with our stubborn guy. But seriously it all did stop after he was neutered. They are best friends now and Bubba goes everywhere he goes and we never have to worry about the two of the together anymore  :D Bubba has turned out to be quite the buddy for him!!!

We had Bubba neutered at 7 months and only for the reason that I thought that was when to do it. However reading about the aggression stuff just made a light go off in my head! Bubba was aggressive and had been since about 3 months. He had problems with my son (5) all he had to do was walk by him and Bubba would go after him biting all the way. But you know that all stopped after he was neutered and I never made the connection til now! We were even considering returning him to his BYB!!!! Also he has never marked his territory and he is now 17 months old and still squats to pee...which is nice since or last dog was a Pug who thought everything in the yard was a pee target! If he was to short to reach something to pee on it then he would just do this funny cartwheel thing and peg it every time...lol

Saint Bernard General Discussions / Re: Are Saints vocal?
« on: August 15, 2006, 04:06:04 pm »
My Bubba isn't always vocal only when he is in the yard and he wants in...the whole neighborhood knows he wants in...lol Also he will let out this ginormous bark when someone walks into our house...not when they knock but after we have answered the door and let them in! However this keeps my teen age daughters friends in check...they are all horrified of him! What they don't know is that his bark really means if you take one step closer to me I will roll over for you to rub my tummy, woof woof!
