Meet & Greet BPOers / Re: whatever happened to the SE meet-n-greet?
« on: March 07, 2007, 06:02:17 am »
Did anything happen with this? I am in the ATL north area and check this thread once in awhile because I'd love to attend. I'm not even sure of a location, but then again, I can be kind of a dork about details. I have to check my Dane's blackberry daily to see where I'm supposed to be driving him and what playdate he has scheduled. :)

I don't think I'd have ever gotten my Dane through out-of-site sits without my Dutch. He'd get bored and wander happily off or lay down and fall asleep. Finally I put her (the Dutch) in a sit with him, and left, and she made him stay put. He does whatever she tells him to. As I was leaving I could hear her fussing at him, "You will STAY PUT on your spotted butt until she come back, you hear? Or she'll make us do it again and we don't get to play ball right away. We gotta sit here for 15 human minutes and that's like forever, 72 hours, in dog time, so don't you dare make me do it twice..."

I swear he didn't get it the way I was trying to explain it, she trains him, not me. The Dutch is well trained - I get her to do everything with him at first, I kid you not. Works like a charm. He just follows her lead.

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: What other pets do you have??

Two dogs, a herd of cats and a squirrel. This is the ratman in the linen closet where he is not allowed. "Not allowed" isn't something that impresses him.

Great Dane Discussions / Re: Who all has a rescued Great Dane?

We have a rescue Dane. After we took this photo he asked us if he could please go back to the shelter now...   ;D

Collie in the line of the nose & eyes. Hard to tell without a good profile shot, but I thought I'd put that out for opinions. We've fostered collies but they aren't my main breed, I'm just someone who happily looks at a lot of dogs.  :)

Try searching some of the yahoo groups for rescue transport - it does not have to be weimeraner specific. You will need to put out request specifically for a transport coordinator.  T.C.s have experience along with a database of transport volunteers on your route to help. Routes are established and these are really the pros. Just make sure that they are official by flat asking publicly. I am sorry that I have no contacts in Canada to give you - I have worked only with the US. The very best of luck to you.

Collars, crates, & other cool things / Re: Shirts
« on: December 05, 2006, 11:52:28 pm »
The tees are great - thanks for pointing them out. They made me laugh. I had another Dane owner recently ask me if my dog was a Dane due to his color. He is a blue merle (and yes I know "blue merle" is not supposed to be a color but my Dane has no white on him. Trust me, he's a blue merle, not a big catahoula). Yes, they come in this color.

Now if I can just find a shirt for Dutch Shepherds which states "No, she is NOT a dingo".
