No Marit, you can go on as much as you like!  ;) The situation and similar situations may be different but it all comes down to the same thing: Animal Abuse! Your right, the animals can't speak for themselves so we all need to speak out for them!
It sounds like you've seen alot of abuse streching from one side of the world to the other. It is maddening that people can set aside the fact that the animals  are God's creatures and they disregard the fact that they are a living, feeling, compassionate animals that respond to love; when  personal gain is involved!
Our demonstration was canceled for today (Sat.30th). It's expected to rain csats and dogs all day here in Eastern Pa. Our next scheduled Demo is on May 14th. Hopefully, we'll be able to get the Media interest. That will be vital in successfully creating Public Awareness! Thanks so much for your support!

Tasha,
You can get to the website now but not through that link. You have to type it in the internet search manually. Just type in info from the www through to the .org. That should get you there.

Our group was started about 2 months ago. So we're new to this. Well I am anyway. Some of the people in the group have been battling puppy mills for a long time. We were supposed to demonstrate at a different pet store tomarrow(Sat.) but it was canceled. We're planning to demonstrate every 2 weeks at different places, pet stores, kennels, puppy mills and events where we can set up tables. The Puppy Mills themselves are a little more difficult. Alot of them are located back farm lanes and the only place to stand is at the road where there isn't much of a berm along the road and we can't be on their property. We'll figure something out though. I'm really glad to have all of your support. It's going to be a tough battle. We're working on purchasing yard signs that I'm hoping to post for sale. Right now we're trying to see what we need to get a mass amount made. That's the only way we'll be able to get the cost down. I'll let you all know when we get it figured out.
Our group has put up a Website that is under construction right now but if any one wants to see it, it is

That's really a shame about your neighbors dog! That poor animal had a lousy life because of stupid humans greed! And it's sad about the kids. Dogs and kids can be such a good thing but because of these careless breeders the kids may fear dogs for life! Hopefully not.
We go to the Poconos for the Nascar race at the end of July. The weekend of the 22nd - 24th. Are you near there?

Maybe we should start a fund!  :)  We'll be demonstrating at least once a month!
It really is a sad situation. The pictures I have seen!  :( It makes me want to cry! We do need to be the voice for these animals! What kills me is that alot of the offenders are the older order Mennonites and Amish. They are supposed to be so religious but don't give a D$#@  about these God created creatures! Hippocrates! It's a sin! They say they need to supplement their incomes and only see dogs as live stock! Government officials around here don't want to do anything that goes against the farmers so they don't enforce the bill that was passed!
Jen, if you do manage to go in and get pictures, send me some copies! Everyone really liked my poster but the bad Puppy Mill pics were a little small. I used what I could find on the computer. The woman who formed the group wants to use my poster for the demonstrations where we set up a table. She'd like to set my poster up on an easel. I think I can make a better poster for her. I want to get more graphic Puppy Mill pictures. People need to see the reality of what's going on. If you do go for pictures, BE CAREFUL!!! They may watch out for people with cameras. They know they are doing wrong but only see the $$$ signs!
So many people around here don't even know what a Puppy Mill is! They see these cute little puppies in the Pet Stores and don't see the horrid conditions these pups were brought into this world in. Then, 6 or 7 months after they have puchased this cute little pup, they find that it has congenial heart problems or severe hip dysplacia or some other genetic disease! Now they have grown to love this animal and the huge cost to correct or deal with the problems are heart breaking for them and more suffering for the dog! It's a lose lose situation!
Thanks for all your support guy! I'll keep you all informed about the Protest activities. I'll try not to take so long next time!!! ;D

Hi Guys,
Sorry it took so long to get back! No, I didn't spend the week in jail!  ;D
I thought the demonstration went well for our 1st. We started out with about 20 people. We stood in front of an empty store right beside the Pet Store. After about an hour, 10 of us went up to a busy road. We got alot of honks, claps of hands and thumbs up! I probably saw a couple of thousand people mouthing the words; Puppy Store - Puppy Mill! That in itself was a good start in our quest for Puppy Mill reform. Public Awareness!
About 3 police cruisers did show up and told the store front people to move over about 3 feet. So they did. Then they just hung around to make sure there wasn't any trouble! We are a peaceful protest group!
Till the end when I went back to the store, our group had grown to about 40 people! All in all I think it was a good start!
These pics were taken at the start. I forgot to take some towards the end! (OOPS)

That is really Cool! It gives me goosebumps too! Kudos for Klondike!!! 8)
I saw a segment on Unsolved Mysteries before where a Newf, that was never water rescue trained, saved a deaf and speech impaired man who was drounding and couldn't call out for help. The woman said that her dog looked out at the man and looked back at her with a look that said, "Ya know I need to go in there!" She told the dog to go and he did save this man! That gave me goose bumps too!

What beautiful Landseers! :)

I've had a number of Newfs and they were all sensitive by nature. My beloved Bear Bear (now at the bridge) would lean against the wall and sulk if she had been yelled at. Likewise, my beloved Rebel (also at the bridge) would run down to the basement if she heard yelling. My husband and I are not, by any means, the yelling type of people. Once while camping, a friend agreed to watch her while the rest of us went dune buggying. My friend yelled at her son which sent Rebel fleeing the camp site! We never left that friend charge of our Rebel again! Luckily, Rebel went to the outskirts of our campsite and sat down and waited for us. Cassie, our current 5 year old adopted Newf, came to us with a few problems. No one had worked with her. She pulled excessively on her lead and liked chasing squirells. She is a very strong dog and it took all I had to hang on to her.  Obviously, I had to work on this before she pulled her and I both out in front of a car. Once when she did this, I reprimanded her harshly. I'm not one to hold on to a gripe. I reprimand, then it's done. We move on. The rest of that day she moped around the house. It took awhile, but I realized, she was upset for being reprimanded. Newfs are very people oriented. They want to be with you and they get upset if you are upset. It's the nature of the beast so to speak and it's just one of many things that make me love the breed.
I also agree that you should check out the breeder and make sure they are responsible. A good breeder will have all the common health problems of Newfs, checked.

Dogs are funny that way. Some one once told me that in a situation with 2 dogs like that, that a person should make sure that the other dog sees the dog that passed away. That way they know that they are gone and won't continue to look for them. I made sure and did this when we had to have our Katie Girl put down. We brought her home and into the house and let Bear Bear see her before we laid her to rest in our yard.

I know this doesn't help you much now but thought you all might find it an interesting thought.

Sorry about losing your Buck. I know how heart breaking that is. I'm praying for You and for Gypsy. I hope Gypsy's grief soon subsides.

Newflover: I just love to hear you and Drake are going to the Alzheimers home. I think it's a wonderful thing and really brings joy to those people. That is such a win win situation! I would like to get Koda trained to be a Therapy Dog. We have a mentally retarded boy who lives across from us. He just loved our beloved Rebel. His eyes would light up and he'd just get overjoyed.Sadl y, Rebel crossed the bridge this past Oct. Our Cassie is a bit too over zealous for this but our Koda went over the other day and he was overjoyed! I really think it's good for him. He has spent his own money on rawhide bones for Rebel at Christmas time. He wraps them up and all! Your right, people can't help but smile when they see a Newf!

Jabear: What a comfort for you to know that you have such a good protector! Way to go Bear!!!! 8) What a good dog!! Give Bear lots of Bear Hugs! He deserves em!

Yeah, I definately do feel that Newfs are very intuitive. That's why many years ago, captains of ships would rather be without their 1st mate, than without their Newf! Newf's were very intuitive about impending dangers at sea! They are great dogs! I like to think of them as the Clydesdales of dogs!

Once I went to take my dog for a walk. We went the same way for years. One day, for some reason, at a point where we turned left. She sat down in front of me. So I pet her and then proceded to go. Again, she sat down in front of me! This happened about 5 times. So I procede to go in a different direction. She is okay with this. To this day, I have no idea why! The very next day we went our normal course and she didn't have a problem. She never did that again! I chalk that up to her intuitions. Maybe she sensed danger for us if we had gone that way, on that day! Who knows! But, personally, I trust in their instincts and intuitions!  ;)
