General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Re: Dog poop picker upper

My father in law does that for a living in Vegas and he's said that there are a lot of people that hire someone to pick up after their dogs. Frankly, I don't know how big Beau's poo is going to get when he's older - but if his current poo is any indication I think we're going to have to hire someone ourselves in a few months!  ;)

Great Pyrenees Pictures / Re: Beau Pics - Snowing in Dallas
« on: March 06, 2008, 10:53:57 am »
I'm very happy to share them! He is such a love. And I do think it snowed here just for him and the other dogs who would have missed out on snow play this year.  ;D
Paige, I do think that Piglet might need to come visit soon and teach him how to go down stairs though....
He does GREAT going up, but not so well going down. And it doesn't seem to matter how much I praise or treat when we try going down stairs - he usually just looks at me like I'm nuts when I tell him to come down stairs. I look up the stairs at this cute little face that is looking at me like.."HA! No way!!"
He can be a stubborn little thing.  :) I can't tell if he's truly scared of going down, or if he just realizes if he stays upstairs long enough his mommy will carry him down because she doesn't want him pee'ing on the carpet...hmm.

Great Pyrenees Pictures / Beau Pics - Snowing in Dallas
« on: March 05, 2008, 07:14:14 pm »
I think Mother Nature is really confused this year - its March and we just got 3 inches at least of snow in Dallas. There is something wrong with that - but we're looking at it as a gift since Beau LOVES the snow. Here are a few pictures of him playing, and him crashing with his bunny after. I took tons of pictures, but unfortunatly all you see in most is a white snowy blur...

Hi Samantha....I just wanted to say good luck! Beau is my first Pyr, and at only 4 months I've already noticed he's too smart for his (or my) own good. We had a Golden Retriever a year ago that just wanted to please us, so it's kind of a new world to find a dog that is as smart as (if not smarter sometimes!) their parents.

Unfortunatly, I don't have any advice to offer, but wanted to wish good luck to you!  :)

Introduce Yourself to the Forum / Re: Hi there

Hi Jennalyn! We're new to BPO too, and it really is a wonderful place. Your babies are beautiful! How old are they? I'm raising an (almost) four month old Pyr, Beau, and every day has been a new adventure. Beau loves Petsmart too, there is just something about everyone fawning on him he can't get enough of.
Welcome!

Oops...of course after I posted the pictures, realized I already posted one of them. So, here's a few more...A couple are at the Doggie Zen Den where he gets to play with a bunch of new friends. It's wonderful that by the end of the day he is just so happy and so tired.  :)

Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome!! I really appreciate it, and I'm sure I'll be posting many more pictures soon!! Here's a couple....(not that I'm addicted to taking pictures of him or anything.... ;D

Hello everyone!
We're new to BPO - Paige referred me over here(I adopted one of the Pyr pups that she saved), and this is a GREAT website! Being a new Pyr mommy, some of the information on this site has been so helpful. I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself, and share some pictures of our baby Beau. (We kind of go overboard with pictures, hope no one minds! I only put a few on for now, though...)
He's currently in day care when I'm at work, at a most wonderful place in Dallas. They are amazing with how much they work with the dogs there, and being as overprotective as I am that's saying something.
Every day has been a new adventure with him, and we've only been together now for about 2 weeks. One of the first nights I had him...I didn't realize that he snored. After hearing this very strange...very LOUD... noise come out of my little puppy, I panicked. My mother was with me (thank goodness!), and she had to calm me down becuase I thought he needed to be rushed to the vets. When I woke him up, he just looked at me like "Please let me go back to sleep Mom!".
I think that's why he now sleeps with his head on my neck and an arm thrown over my chest - to make sure I won't wake him up again.  ;D
He's just the sweetest baby, so full of kisses. We have a few episodes of random fear, I'm not quite sure where those are coming from. We're working with a trainer and hoping that the people socialization helps.
I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone!
