Heya everyone!! THANK YOU for all the great feedback! I did get Tank from a breeder and met the parents who were really mellow. I think the advice about being overly paranoid when another dog comes close is right on point. I have been so scared that he would hurt another dog that I found myself shortenig up the leash and tensing up beyond belief in order to ensure I can control him in the event of a charge.... I have been trying to remain calm and loose when other dogs are nearby, and just give a short quick tug to the pinch collar when he perks up after seeing another dog approaching. Short circuiting the mind from escalating into aggressive mode works pretty well but sometimes he cant be distracted that way. I plan to use the treats method going forward. I will keep you all posted on how it works out. Thanks again for all the great advice! I just want to feel secure with the fact that he wont attack, but defending himself is completely ok by me
As for the dog park, we have a bunch of them in the area here in Colorado, but I have been too chicken to take him for fear that he will attack another dog. Do you guys think that a muzzle would be appropriate until he proves he can be a good 'dog park citizen'?
Thanks again all!!!
