My 4 month old Old English Sheepdog Zoe was recently diagnosed with what they think is HOD.  All the test results have been inconclusive.  Three sets of xrays had not revealed HOD but yet she has all the symptoms.  We rushed her to the vets when she went from being a typical puppy to one that was totally lethargic, disoriented and very hot.  Her temp was 105.8, she had low protien but elevated white blood cell count.  Everything else was in a normal to slightly elevated range.  After 24 hours, her temp came done but one of her liver enzymes went to 350 and she couldn't walk. Her back legs just didn't seem to work.  She spent two days at the vets and IV, etc.  She is now home and on Deramaxx adn Clavamox.  The improvement has been incredible.  She's acting like her self, walking and playing.  She seems to be self-limiting to avoid any pain.  Our concern is what happens when she comes of the meds?  While the vet has indicated that the prognosis is very good, we are concerned about what the next several months will be like.  Has anyone experienced this?  We love our vet but what concerns me is that they have only seen 5 - 6 cases of HOD in their practice and never experienced this with an OES.
