awww i am so sorry to hear it..... I am only 27 but my husband is 34 and has two kids from his previous marriage too, so i am a stepmom too.

the girl is 12 and the boy is 11.!!!

Their mom is a real piece of work and is constantly doing things like refusing visitations and dragging us back to court for more money.

She has found all sorts of loop holes and uses them to mess with us.  The latest scheme she did was she has a step mom who runs a daycare and she got a receipt book (like the ones you use at garage sales) and filled it out to provide proof for a year of child care from back in 2004!!! because of the divorce dicree my hubby has to pay 50 % of child care too and even though it was fraud (even the kids say they never went to ANY care facility) and the judge even said it was obvious she hadnt just come across the receipts (they were all written with the same pen, handwritting, and the receipt #s were in sequential order) he said he had to grant it and were are being forced to pay 10,000 in "back-child care" now too...

I am constantly put down by the kid's mom and her boyfriend.... we are harrassed endlessly... she made me so miserable a while ago i had the worst anxiety attack yet and thought i was having a heart attack had to go to the er and then they put me on xanax.....

I wish i could give you some advice but my prob is the ex moreso than the kids, so you definitely got it tougher because to some extent i can walk away from her and i know you cant really with the kids...

I hate mysellf for it but i constantly find myself wishing they werent there and getting mad at them so i have to stay away for a while at times because i know its totally misplaced anger....

my only savior is "veli" she keeps me sane.....she does the whole bodyguard thing too!!!

keep your head up my thoughts are definitely with you

how funny that cat must have hated the noise! yeah she is definitely me in dog form!!! a mini-me lol!! she probably hasnt done it again because she is probably still angry that my husband makes her sleep in a dog bed since he moved in (he has sleep apnea and has to sleep with a breathing machine so it makes it difficult with a dog taking up 90% of the bed!)

Boxer Discussions & Pictures / Veli and the Alarm Clock

So this happened a few years ago but I thought some of you could appreciate it; I hate when people try to tell me that boxers are stupid because I swear this animal is brilliant!

Anyhow… back before I got married, I used to share my king-sized bed with my Boxer (a.k.a “Veli”) (well “share” I use loosely since she dominated more than ¾ of it!).

I am a very heavy sleeper and have an extremely loud alarm clock. This alarm clock had a huge snooze button on the top and you could literally smack down with your hand to get it to stop.

I eventually had to move it from my bedside table to the vanity across my room so I would actually have to get up to hit it because I kept oversleeping.

Veli loves to sleep as much as mama and we don’t do mornings well.

One morning the alarm went off and I really didn’t want to get up so I was lying there for a minute or so, eyes wide open and trying to motivate myself to get up.  Well apparently this wasn’t acceptable because my dog who was curled into a ball next to me lifted her head looked at me (like to say “you are not going to turn that thing off?!”) and when I didn’t budge she let out a sigh and got up, jumped off the bed and ran over to the alarm.  She put her two front paws on the surface of the counter (so she was “standing” on the two hind ones) and stood there looking at the alarm.

I would have gotten up by now but I kind of wanted to see if she was going to bark at it. She didn’t but what she did do was much better…. She tilted her head to the side at it and then with one swat of her paw hit the snooze button (I kid you not, anyone who has watched boxers play know they use their paws like cats and hit things hence the name boxer!)

The alarm stopped making noise…. she stared at it then when she was sure it was quiet got off the counter and marched back to bed and jumped back up and curled into a ball and sighed again and went back to sleep!!! (While I am sure she learned this behavior from me, it was amazing to see her apply that knowledge)

I thought I was going to die of laughter, but I got out of bed and went to the alarm and turned it off then grabbed my phone and went into the living room…. Only after shutting the door and calling my mom to tell her the story did I let myself laugh, I figured she deserved at least another 15 minutes of sleep in peace for that one…..

If only I could have caught it on tape……and she has never done it since!!!!

That’s my girl!!!

Have a good evening!

Steph and “Veli”

P.S. once I learn how to put pictures up I will properly introduce “Veli”

Siberian Husky Discussions / Re: Feeding my Husky
« on: February 18, 2009, 07:40:51 am »
Well I don’t know how much it helps but my brother has two huskies (well had till 2 weeks ago when he had to put the oldest down she was 15 and really ill) and the youngest Arnie who is 2 almost 3 now has always had problems with dog food and so my brother started making his own with ground turkey, potatoes (sweet and other regular potatoes) rice and cooked carrots, etc.  I know its time consuming… but he does work full time (2nd shift as a manager for Honda) and go to school full time so he makes it on the weekend and then puts it in the fridge when he puts it in the bowls, he mixes in some extra water to make it like thick soup. Arnie didn’t throw it up at all and after the first week he had no more diarrhea and now the dog is healthy and happy. There are some good recipes online (try google and put in recipes to make homemade dog food).  Also there are some vitamins and supplements.  My mom feeds her dog Missing Link and mixes it into two rounded table spoons of cottage cheese (which she feeds the dog once a day for calcium and other nutients) and she gives him chicken jerky chews for teeth and gums…. Just some suggestions to balance don’t know if any are helpful ;)
