I'm looking into pet insurance for Shandi and am finding it difficult to decide which one to go with as you can't always compare them 'apples to apples'.

I don't want to start a free advertising thread here, but I would love to find out if any of you have any recommendation s... if you have used a company that you're pleased with, could you please send me an e-mail (carrie.renda @ gmail.com) and let me know?

Collars, crates, & other cool things / Mastiff-sized crate
« on: November 11, 2008, 11:30:45 am »
Never having had a puppy before, I thought I would only need a crate for Shandi for a few months - just long enough to potty train her and get past the teething stage - and then she'd be able to roam free in the house like Daisy by the time she was 6 months or so.

(Yeah, you can laugh now.)  :-\

Anyway, with that being my thought process I got a crate that seemed huge but that is already almost too small. Since she's not yet ready to be out of it without supervision I need to get a new one... is there any chance any of you that reside in New England might be interested in selling off a used full sized mastiff crate?

If so, please send an email directly to me (carrie.renda @ gmail.com). I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks, I'll look for a local chapter of the Delta Society to get more info!

Hi all,
About two months ago I brought home a mastiff puppy and I'm looking to learn all I can from as many credible sources as I can. I'm also looking for other giant breed dogs that live nearby whose owners might want to get together for playtime.

If there are any mastiff owners/breeders, dog carting enthusiasts, or therapy dog owners on this forum from southeastern Massachusetts or northern Rhode Island that would like to help mentor a newbie, please let me know... I would love to connect with you in person!

And if there are any other Big Paw dog owners in my area that would like to get together for 'play dates' please contact me at carrie_renda @ gmail.com.

Hi all,
About two months ago I brought home a mastiff puppy and I have lots to learn about these gentle giants!

I can't tell you much about Shandi's lines as she's sort of a rescue... my neighbor's son just decided to breed his mastiff and then he got divorced and things got messy at home and he suddenly just had to find homes for the two pups. He keeps saying he's going to register the litter, but so far I still haven't seen any papers or anything.

I can tell you that Shandi is a brindle female and she's about 5 1/2 months old and she's just the sweetest thing. I love her very much.   ;  )

I'm hoping she'll keep this great personality I'm seeing now and will turn out to be a good candidate to work as a therapy dog when she's old enough. Also, the other day, I saw some info on the web about carting so I think I might look into that for her...not so much for competing in how much she could pull, but just for helping to carry things around our big yard and for taking my neices and nephews for short rides... just pleasure stuff.

Right now I'm looking to learn all I can from as many credible sources as I can, so if there are any mastiff owners, breeders, carters, or therapy dog owners on this forum from southeastern Massachusetts or northern Rhode Island that would like to help mentor a newbie, please let me know... I would love to connect with you in person!  : )
