BTW do you have boys? girls? how big are they now? i had a dane before but he only got to 109 lbs due to kidney failure and was really small for his age. im trying to figure out how big my dane pup will be. she is alost 6 months old and 77 lbs..

i had the hardest time potty training Sophie. i still dont think she is ready to be out of her crate at night or when im not around.  she has pee'd in front of me too many times that i still dont trust her. she did stop going on her crate but when i was playing with her the other day i though she was going to squat and i jumped up. that scared her and she sat down. not sure if she was going to sit or actually pee but either way i took her out to go potty and she did just that..LOL i took sophie out every hour when i 1st got her. i even slept down stairs so she didnt feel lonely so i slept with her. hehe. ya spoiled! good luck with her.

i know it takes time but she just wont stop..i layed down on the sofa yesterday and ended up having to crate her because she was pawing at my face and trying to jump on me.i told her no and yelled it after the 5th time. i pushed her away to lay down and then she got on her back and tried to paw at me whlie she ways laying down. she is playing the entire time but needs to learn when to stop, all she does is play play play and wont ever sleep unless i crate her. she is like the energizer bunny that goes on and on and on and on..lol since i have had her the only time she will sleep or relax is when she is in the crate. i dont know what to do with the time she is out with me. i sit on my sofa and watch her and ignore her hoping she will just lay down for atleast 10 min. maybe she has adhd..LOL who knows but all i know is im going to find out when i get my sugery on the 17th and i hope she gets better by the date they give me. thanks for the info.

ok here is the thing, i taught sophie how to sit and lay down in 10 min. she is very smart but she is really hyper. im wondering how i can teacher her NOT to paw. as we all know they have some power behind that paw that just wants to play but its getting really annoying. i need her to not jump on me when i lay down either because i am soon going to get surgery and i need her to learn that when im laying down its not play time. she is almost 6 months old but is all puppy. when i say or do anything she always thinks im playing with her. i raise my voice and it doesnt do anything to stop her. what can i do to make her listen and learn that im not a huge play toy? also a friend told me to pop her on the butt , i did and she thought it was play time. granted i play with her rougher than i popped her on the butt..another lady said to use the carboard in the paper towels to use on their nose...someone else said to ignore her when she gets like that. i did do the ignore thing and she just jumped on my back when i went to walk away. any help with be much appreciated..t hanks all!

hmmm im not sure because sophie is all over any dog she is around and trys to make them fall in love with her. i think she might be a bit much for your Ranger. im actually trying to get her out of her bad habits because she is a bit much at times. when i can get her to calm down then we can try this but i think she will be a bit much right now for Ranger. wish she was just a little bit more calm around other dogs....*sigh*

so cute! mine never snuggle at all, my dane is too hyper and too much of a pain in the butt to let anything snuggle with her. lol she has to be biting it or pawin at it. i wish she would just lay down and snuggle with our animals but nope.  Yours are adorable!!

thanks for the info..i will do my best to make her as comfy as possible..

the vet does do blood work on the dog before surgery. im so happy for that because my chi was going to get fixed and ended up having liver problems. if they never done that test before puttin her under they said she most likely would have died on the table. im so glad they did that blood work.

so i know if anything goes on she will be well takin care of. they also told me the same thing about the meds. it sucks but if they are pain free they will act like nothing is wrong. unless something goes wrong or she NEEDS it then i will get it. they do the IV as well. my only out of pocket will be the purdy lamp shade so she doesnt get to her stiches..lol oh and they pain meds if they want me to give them to her.  so im sure things will go well and i will keep everyone posted on how things go. love this site because there is always someone to answer questions that we have...

i took my chihuahua to the puppy class. i learned more than she did in the end..lol its great for socializing the pups but not so much on training since they are more interested in playing with eachother and not so much into training.

the reason they sold her for so cheap is because they got evicted and had to move ASAP. she had 2 brothers that were left besides her that were show quality. they told me they were the best ones since they were show quality but i wanted her because she is very vocal. i like a dog that try's to talk..lol

i talked to my husband and we both decided not to breed her. it would be nice to keep a pup of hers and experiece the joy of it all but i dont have the heart if something happend to one of the pups. so i will do that soon since she is of age soon to start her monthly.

thanks you everyone that responded to me. this was a great help for us and its time to make that appt to get my baby's playpen fixed so no pups get in there and play..LOL
