Oh Day-z is just gorgeous!!!!!
Don't do the operation, she is healthy and beautiful just as she is..you can't even see it in the picture. My little guy  is from Ch. show parents...ch.'s in pedigree's  going way back.  Truly exceptional lines and all health clearances done and clear (a huge plus) .  He would have been the pick of the litter, but with the one blue eye, he can’t be bred or shown.  So now he is coming home to us..3-4 more weeks to go.. I’ll keep you posted!

Thanks for this.  I am thinking that if the eye becomes a problem we will deal with it then.  She doesn't know anything about it and i hate making her go through surgery etc unless she needs it.  I slept next to her the night before she went in to be speyed (in her room, not mine) and cried like a baby when i dropped her off.  So, i have completely lost all logic where this dog is concerned.

Today, she is at doggy day care, i am going away next weekend and do not want her to stay somewhere that she is caged.  And, so, she has gone for her 6hr interview to see how she gets on without me, and assuming all well then she will go there next weekend.  Is just the best place, they all play together, go for walks etc and someone is always there with them.  I so, hope she likes it.

I get more work done when she is not here, but it just is not the same.

Am sure you will love your boy how i love her.

Have a good weekend.

Hi there,

Day-z has one partially blue eye, it is Persistent Pupillary membrane and she would have been a show dog without this.  Her parents both are, but with this she can't be.  Initially the breeder told me she would not experience any issues with this and that nothing can be done.  I accepted that for a while, but my vet has referred me to an eye specialist.

Before i got my Day-z, the breeder had her eye checked out and she can see through it, maybe not as well as through the other, but well enough and since she has been like this since birth she is fine.  As she grows, the amount of blue stays the same, and the rest of her eye is brown and clear.

The eye specialist has said to me that we could consider laser surgery to break up the blue a little, but when we saw him she had just been spayed and i did not want to put her through something new.  Now, i am thinking about it.  But, she is not in the least bit bothered by it and is very active.  I am not sure who i would be doing the operation for.

What do you guys think.....

Hi there,

just wanted to get an idea of how much bigger Day-z might grow to be.  Huge is fine, small is fine, just curious.

At seven and a half months she weighs 85ilbs 9 oz, and was 72lbs at 6 months.

Interested if you guys have any similar data to share.

She is about 25inches tall now.

Thanks

Day-z and i live in Miami, so we get plenty of lightning.

One night a few weeks ago there was a bad storm, there i was awake in bed, worrying about the 6 month old puppy terrified in her room.  So, I come downstairs to look after her.  I get downstairs and peer in her room, there she is asleep on her back - oblivious to it all.  Me visiting her woke her up and she followed me into the family room and slept on the floor.

There was a fireworks party a few weeks ago too, and she went to the patio door to watch it.

Not quite how i predicted she would be.  We had bad storms today and she slept through those too.

Hi there,

Day-z is now 7 months and when she was 3/4 months she was a real biter - I have a great scar on my arm to prove it.  We knew she was teething and kind of tolerated it, with a few time outs for good measure.  While teething she did bite baseboards etc

At around maybe 5 and a half months, the biting stopped and it is very rare now that she needs a timeout.

Her adult teeth are beautiful and nowhere near like the needle teeth that used to bite us.

Teething has a lot to answer for.

Good luck

Hi there,

I sympathise.  For the first few months of Day-z living here i was getting up at all hours of the night to a crying puppy and walking her.  It was common for me to be walking up and down the street at 4am for example.  The thing was though, it never made any difference to whether she was dry or not.  I tried not to give in to her barking and in the day it was easy, but at 2am i had to think of the neighbours.

So, at the advice of my dog trainer, i bought one of those Citronella collars that spray Citronella when they bark.  It is the best thing i ever did.  The barking stopped, and since i bought this i have never had to get up at night.  But, the best thing is, it has calmed Day-z down completely.  Before she would bark and scratch on her room door at night.  Now she neither barks nor scratches.  Instead she will just sit by her door and look for people.  I cannot remember the last time she wore the bark collar as there is no longer any need for it.  But, believe me, it has changed the behaviour of her so much.

Now, when she does bark it is only once.

And, the thing only ever sprayed her at most 4 times.  Then she just calmed down.

And, before anyone thinks it scared her so much and that is why she no longer barks, not at all.  She is completely happy and healthy.

Hope it helps.

We had problems like this all the time with Day-z, she is now 7 months and still not 100% dry at night.  She actually would walk into another room and go to the bathroom in the crate.  Needless to say we gave up on the crate as keeping her clean was a nightmare.

The good news is that now she sleeps on her bed and never pees on it.  I think that some dogs just don't mind doing it on their bed, despite all the stuff about never soiling their den etc.

It has worked itself out for us as Day-z as grown up.

Good luck
