Marit, you are so wonderful! I would have done the same thing in that situation.  You'll have to keep us posted on what happens, what name are you calling him?  If the owners are not found, would you and your husband keep him? Sounds like he would be very lucky to be in your family:)

I have seen a Gray Newf.  My husband and I went to a few dog shows recently, we live in the Detroit area. The only one we've seen around here and at the shows  is a big greay male, named Jake. He's a champion and is absolutely gorgeous. He is a big boy, and his owner always has a big brown bib on him for the drool. Its very cute. I know that he was recently bred, to a Newf breeder here and if you check out their website they have pictures of Jake and the new puppies.  I think there was 4 gray puppies out of the litter, mom being black. The breeder is Allegiance Newfoundlands.  When the grays are placed next to the black puppies you can really tell just how silver they are. They are so cute! :)

Newfoundland Discussions / Supplemets
« on: May 23, 2005, 07:06:46 am »
I'm curious what you all think of supplemets,do you use them, and what feedback have you gotten from your vets? I have 2 Newfie puppies, one is 10 mos and one is 11 weeks. I have them on Solid Gold food.  I had been giving Bella, 10 months, their Sea Meal supplement and saw great results, however last week our vet really advised against using any type of supplements as most are high in calcium and  protein... Just wondered what feedback you might have.  :)

I  have a 10 month old female Newf, who is very socialized, loves everyone and other dogs. We are getting a male Newf puppy next weekend. I'm sure Bella will initially be jealous, but does anyone have suggestions as to how make the transitions any smoother for her and the new puppy as well?

Hi, I have to agree with the other  Newf owners. We had a Golden and a Jack Russell in the past. Actually, our Golden had behavioral issues due to over breeding we think. He was a biter and we had to put him down. Consequently, we did extensive research on breeds.  We found the Newf to be a perfect fit for what we were looking for, excellent temperment, loving and gentle and good with kids and other animals. Last fall we got a female brown Newf. Bella Rose is 10 months and she is the absolute best dog I have ever had. She surpasses everything we had hoped for and wanted in a dog. In fact we have decided to get another Newf.

We live in Michigan (Howell which is between Detroit, Ann Arbor and Lansing), and know how hard it is to find a breeder. We found a breeder in Galien, near South Bend Indiana. The litter whelped on 3-6-05. and there are a few puppies left.  Mom is a Landseer and dad is Black. The mother had 4 Landseers, 1 gray and white female, and 3 black (2 male and 1 female)  We are getting a black male this time, and know the other black male is sold too.  We are picking up our puppy next weekend, but you can contact them via their website: www.wheatgermo ilforpets.com
Also, both parents have all their health clearances and have are guarnateed.  She's been a Newf breeder for about 10-12 years I believe. Good luck and go with the Newf  ;D
