Treatment & Preventative Meds / Laser Treatment for Hip Dysplasia
« on: July 28, 2009, 07:03:12 pm »
Has anyone ever heard of laser treatments for hip dysplasia? My vet is getting a laser and Truman is going to be a trial "guinea pig", I guess.  I can't find much info about it though...

I am using "Country Life" Buffer-C 1000mg.  I read the buffered is easier on the digestive system and is better absorbed in dogs.  So far, I have only been able to find buffered C at a health food store...

Does anyone out there use Dasequin(sp?)?  I have been usin GlycoFlex III for Truman, but a vet recommended Dasequin, but I am a little leary because he also recommended Hills j/d food....

Truman is 10 mos old and has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia.  No arthritis yet, but his hips are VERY loose.  I am giving him GlycoFlex III, 500 mg buffered C and 1200 mg Fish Oil, all 2x per day.  I just want to make sure I am doing ALL I can for him...he's such a good boy and WAY too young for this!!!

Hi,I'm new to the site as well.  I have a St. Bernard/Golden mix, Truman, (such a handsome boy!!) and 2 boxers, Petey and Annie.  The reason I found this sight is because I just found out that Truman has hip dysplasia (he's only 10 mos old!) and I'm trying to find as much info as I can so we know the best way to treat him.  He is a candidate for the TPO surgery, but it is terribly expensive ($4,500 per side) and we have a daughter starting college in the fall so I don't think we can swing it.  I would love to hear any advice, suggestions, anything to help me figure out what I can and should be doing for him....PLEASE HELP!!!
