Great Pyrenees Discussions / Dixie takes on a snake :(
« on: March 18, 2006, 10:45:21 am »
This girl is going to give me a heart attack yet!  When we went on our afternoon walk today Dixie found a water moccasin by the lake.  She is always out front, I am in the middle, and Sugar Bear in back when we walk the fence line of our property.  Well as soon as she gets on the dam over the south end of the lake she start barking like crazy, some times it is a cat or a turtle so I walk over to check it out.  Dixie growls at me so I stop a few feet away.  I look down at Dixie's paws and there is about a 2 1/2 foot snake.  I try to call her away and all she will do is stand there and bark at it.  I rush Sugar Bear in to our shop so he is out of the way and then I run up the hill to get the hubby to get a gun and kill the snake.  I know some people love snakes but after the loss of Rosie they make my blood run cold.  So as soon as Dixie knows that Daddy is there she runs to check on me since I can can not get my breath from running up to the house.  Anyway hubby kills the snake and Dixie runs around like she is 10 foot tall and so very proud of herself.  I keep checking every inch of her body to make sure it did not strike her anywhere.  They both just got a big bully stick; after all she did save me from a snake.

I am thinking of changing her name to steel magnolia!

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / New SUV needed, ya think?
« on: March 08, 2006, 05:19:15 pm »
Ok this is what Dixie and I did to our Trooper SUV. It was a total loss.  Anyone have any ideas on a great SUV that will hold two or three pyrs.

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Missed Photo :(
« on: February 06, 2006, 03:52:47 pm »
I just missed a great photo.  Sugar Bear loves his new crate but he and Dixie like the same one best.  Sugar Bear was in it and Dixie went in the same one, so they are both in a crate for a 110 lb. dog.  So that 185 lbs. in a 110 lb. area.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / New Soft Side Crate :)
« on: January 31, 2006, 04:07:08 pm »
We just got in our new soft-side crate for dog shows.  It is great, Sugar Bear is at home sleeping but Dixie is with me checking it out.  I am going to save some special treat for when they are in it.  Dixie went in had her treat and back out again.  I plan on letting they do that a few days before I zip the door down.  It is a great size I could almost go in it with Dixie. I plan to use it at dog show when I don't have anyone with me or for after she has been groomed and needs to rest.    I will post some photos as soon as I have time to take some.   Check it out:  http://www.petedge.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=4109&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=0&iSubCat=0&iSubSubCat=0&iProductID=4109&AS=1
