Food Discussion & Information / BPO Santa's - food-treat allergies?
« on: November 07, 2005, 09:55:52 am »
It might be nice to know if anyones fur-baby has food allergies or treats they just can not eat.  I would hate to send something that would cause an upset tummy.

Dixie Darlin - cast iron tummy, she can eat anything.
Sugar Bear - liver or very rich treats will give him an upset tummy.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Rosie has her own road!
« on: October 01, 2005, 03:34:39 am »
Just had to let you guys know of a super sweet thing my husband did for me.  As most of you know I lost Rosie last year due to a snake bite.  Well my husband is working on a developement names Southtown.  He has named one of the main road "Rosie Drive".  He also named a road after my Dad who I lost in January, "Elton Court".  I knew he was going to name a few  roads after our grandkids but now Rosie and Dad have their own roads.  It's no wonder I love this guy so much. Once it is built I will take a photo of the road sign and post it. Which should be within in the next 6-9 months.

Food Discussion & Information / Cooking your dogs food?

I have a question for those of you that do a cooked diet or add cooked foods to the kibble.  What food do you use in the daily meal plan?

Food Discussion & Information / Solid Gold - Green Tripe can food?
« on: September 29, 2005, 10:15:52 pm »
I have had several people tell me that green tripe is good for dogs.  As many of you know I have been having issues with Sugar Bear have very soft stool for the past few months. Yesterday I found Solid Gold Green Tripe can food.  I just added  a little to his food this and he loved it.  Is this something I should add daily?  Is it ok for Dixie to have green tripe even if her tummy is fine?

Sugar Bear is on daily lactobacillus-Acidophilus. I just got some Slippery Elm capsules. Do I just open the capsules and put it on his food on give him the capsules to take?  Should I give him the adult dose of 6 per day (400 mg.)?  I also picked up  some Solid Gold D-Zyme Powder.  I though I would add one item to the food for a few days before I and the next.  Is there anything else I should be adding to his food to firm up his stool.

Great Pyrenees Pictures / Westminster Video
« on: September 17, 2005, 10:56:05 pm »
I just notice that on the Westminster Kennel Club site you can view video of last years show.  I had to watch it twice, the Pyrs are so pretty. http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/2005/results/breed/grpyr.html

I am not sure why the link will not work but just go to the Westminster Kennel Club site, then go to the 2005 show results, pick a group, pick a breed and view the video.

Breeding Questions & Information / A+ Great Breeders - What makes one?
« on: September 15, 2005, 09:23:43 pm »
In my search to lean as much as possible about breeding I ask myself tons of questions daily, I even have an answer at times.  So my question for today is what makes an excellent breeder?  We chat about BYY, pet shop puppies, rescues due to lack of knowledge by the original owners.  Now I would like to hear from those of you that are very pleased with your breeder and would go back to that breeder for another puppy.  What is it that makes a breeder not just good but great?

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Ready for Class?
« on: September 10, 2005, 10:51:00 am »
This is just so funny I had to tell you guys before we leave to Petsmart class.  My time is off today, I looked at the clock at 11:00 and for some reason I read 12:00. So I rush to get Sugar Bear and Dixie Darlin ready for class, brush clean ears and teeth, baby power.  Somehow they know when it is Saturday class, I guess because we do not go to work first thing.  So then I see that is is 11:30 and not 12: 30 and tell them we have to wait.  Dixie keeps going out the dog door and barking by the back of the SUV and Sugar Bear keeping running outside and then back to the door to bark at me.  I guess they think they are late for class. So we are going to leave early and just walk around in the store before class.  Does that make you feel loved teacher Amber?

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Acidophilus Lactobacillus ???
« on: September 08, 2005, 08:00:21 pm »
My vet has suggested that I give Sugar Bear Acidophilus Lactobacillus for his tummy. He has had soft to runny stool on and off for the past few months.   We just finished a round of Albon.  Everything show up clean on the fecal and blood test.  I have done a google on it and I found that some of the better foods have it in it.  Does anyone give it to your fur-babies and if you do did it work?

This is from the one I plan to order:
"Acidophilus Formula is an Acidophilus Lactobacillus Blend with Acidophilus and fructooligosac charides, which supports immune function. Acidophilus also fights lactose-intolerance symptoms, flare-ups of inflammatory bowel disease and vaginal yeast infections, and supports natural digestion."

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Raw Fish?
« on: September 08, 2005, 02:48:34 pm »
As many of you know Sugar Bear and Dixie Darlin love to play in our pond.  I take a dead fish out of Dixie's mouth almost every day and throw it away.  Since I do not want her to eat fish that are dead could I feed her fish we catch for her?  I know you are not to mix raw and kibble. Is it ok to feed them a raw fish as a treat if I make sure they do not get kibble at the same time.
