Groans, Gripes, Brags & Boasts / mini vent about chewing
« on: July 10, 2009, 11:08:12 am »
ARRGG!  I woke this morning at 7 am to a loud thumping sound.  I walked into the living room to find my two monsters pulling books off of the bottom shelf of the bookcase and chewing them to pieces :o!  I just wanted to scream! Anyway...just had to vent

Well I was thinking rubber or foam flooring because that is what they use in the doggy day care that I used to work for.  Also, when I was researching online the rubber flooring was also suggested.  I am leaning more toward the interlocking pieces.  The room used to be a garage and is 456 square feet, so I'm not sure the linoleum would be an option in that size.  I have stained concrete in the rest of my house, but I wanted to give them something a bit more comfortable to play on.  But I see your point of it getting ripped up  ::) :D.  The search continues...

Hey guys!  So I was thinking about turning one of the rooms in my house into a doggy play room.  I was thinking rubber or foam flooring would be the best thing to go with.  Has anyone ever put rubber flooring in (or had it put in)?  Any ideas on where to get a good deal on the flooring?

I just realized (in my excitement as a new doggie mama ;) ;D) that I had posted without giving a proper intro! My name is Carina and I am the proud mama to Wicket a 7 month old Great Pyr and Murphy a 9 week old Husky/Pyr mix.  I also have 5 cats, Goo, Boo, Mouse, Pooter, and Gwilly, and several fish including Stan the beta.  AS you can see I have quite a crew at my house!:D I have never had dogs before and I was THRILLED when I found this site!  I have already recieved great advice and I enjoy reading about everyone's experiences.  I will post some more pics of my kiddos soon (Wicket and Murphy are in the avatar).  Hooray for BPO! ;D :D ;D

Collars, crates, & other cool things / Dog Ramp
« on: June 19, 2009, 03:35:44 pm »
Ok, so now that my question has been answered bout jumping vs. ramps...does anyone have suggestions on where to find quality affordable dog ramps?

37
Did you get them to jump or did you have to use a ramp?

This question comes from my hubby: Is it common for big dogs not to jump into and out of cars?
My 6mo old great pyr, Wicket, seems not to know how to jump. Particularly into and out of the car. Naturally, my solution was to try a ramp for Wicket.  Hubby says "He doesn't need a ramp! He just needs to learn how to jump!"  My issue is, what if he never learns to jump? We can't keep lifting a now 60-70lb (and growing!) great pyr into and out of the car!  I was just wondering about other people's thoughts, experiences, and possible solutions to this situation.  Is this normal for pyrs or big dogs in general? Has anyone ever used the ramps before?

Thanks! I have started them on the Solid gold wolf cub formula and they love it!

That is him in the avatar and thank you!  Both of his parents looked to be full blood and they were beautiful, although that doesnt mean much.  Its funny because my husky/pyr mix (the other scamp in the avatar) has the double dews!

My 6 month old great pyr, Wicket, was born without the trademark double dewclaws.  I was wondering if any of you fellow pyr owners had heard of that and if it is a rare or common occurance.

My 8 week old pup has fleas and I am having trouble finding a treatment for puppies under 12 weeks.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi all!

My name is Carina and I am a new member and new mom to a 6 month old Great Pyr named Wicket and an 8 week old Pyr/Husky cross named Murphy.  I have a food question...Wha t kind of food recommendation s can you guys give? I don't want to feed my babies crap food!  I have heard good things about Solid Gold and Innova.  Is there anything I should avoid specifically with pyrs? All your help is greatly appreciated!
