Anything Non-Dog Related / Remember to wear your seatbelts
« on: June 30, 2007, 12:08:13 pm »
I was in a pretty bad accident last week and my seatbelt probably saved my life. So don't forget to wear yours all the time - it might save yours too, and your puppers need you to be safe!

« on: June 10, 2007, 04:18:10 am »
I know I have been off of the board a lot lately because I have been trying to start my new craft company and take care of some real life things, but I wanted to share with everyone that today is Zoey's birthday! She is three!

Anything Non-Dog Related / Please fill out a survey for me
« on: April 29, 2007, 08:25:00 am »
I have recently discovered that I really enjoy making mosaics and I am really good at them, so I want to try and sell them at craft sales and whatnot. I want to get an idea of what kinds of things people would like, so I made a survey. I would really appreciate it if you guys would take a minute to fill it out for me. Thanks!

Medical Conditions & Diseases / bad news about Zoey
« on: April 23, 2007, 07:28:48 pm »
We have had a tough weekend with Zoey and had to take her to the emergency room today on our vet's advice. We are still not sure what is going on, but it looks like she has something wrong with her neurological system  :-[

For a while now she has been chattering her teeth and we thought it was just anxiety or nervousness, but now the doctor tells us that she has been having something called facial focal seizures. We are meeting with the neurologist on thursday to see what's next. Cross your fingers and paws for us  :-\

Collars, crates, & other cool things / Alternative E-collars
« on: March 18, 2007, 06:30:58 am »
Zoey's brother-in-law boo is having surgery this friday to remove a tumor from his eyelid, so he will need to wear an e-collar while he heals so he can't scratch at his stiches. I remember seeing a softer ecollar somewhere and I want him to have a comfortable one. Has anyone tried alternatives to the hard plastic e-collar?

Collars, crates, & other cool things / Zoey's new non-slip booties
« on: January 04, 2007, 10:32:29 pm »
Today I was at the pet store and saw a dog with funny things on his paws, so I ased what they were for and found out that they helped prevent him from slipping and sliding. Zoey has major floor slippage problems, so I bought a set. And so far they are working!  :o

They are called pawz boots ( http://www.pawzdogboots.com/index.html ) and they are disposable boots that basically look like big uninflated balloons. They look funny, make a funny noise hen she walks, and are expensive ($18 for a pack of 12) but it is worth it if she can walk around more comfortably - she hasn't slipped once since she put them on  :o And that's on wood floors! And the best part is she isn't even having trouble getting up now (she often has trouble because she can't get traction from her back legs to push up). Since we put the boots on she hasn't struggled to get up once! I'm so excited!

Anything Non-Dog Related / I'm back and I have news
« on: December 30, 2006, 12:15:40 pm »
Well I've been pretty much off the board for the past week while I was on christmas break. I went home for the holidays and missed zoey and bpo while I was gone.

I do have two big pieces of news for my bpo friends though.

1. I am engaged. Zoey's dad and I are finally going to get married. I thought about making zoey a flower girl but I think it would freak her out too much  ;)

2. I am an aunt now  :o Since I know how much everyone on bpo likes baby pics I thought I would share

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Teeth chattering
« on: November 29, 2006, 03:19:58 am »
Lately, Zoey has been chattering her teeth a lot. She will open and close her jaw really quickly, sometimes hard enough to make her teeth click together, sometimes not closing her mouth but having her jaw sort of tremble.

What are the possible reasons for this?

Anything Non-Dog Related / Look what I found in my kitchen this morning
« on: November 11, 2006, 08:42:16 am »
I woke up this morning and came downstairs only to hear strange noises coming from the kitchen. I was convinced there was an intruder in the house  :o Well it turns out there was, only it wasn't a person it was a bird  :o I found a window open in the basement so I think the bird flew in the window, up the stairs right next to it, and ended up in the kitchen. It was flying back and forth from window to window trying to get out - I felt so bad for it  :-\ It was so freaked out when it saw me it was flying around in circles from room to room. I had to open up all the windows in the kitchen and dining room before it would fly out. Of course with all the flying around I had to grb the camera  ;)

Good thing Zoey was upstairs in the bedroom - she would have freaked out if she found the bird in the house :o

Has anyone tried those comfort zone dog pheremone plug ins? I am thinking about trying one if it will help zoey relax more when we arent home, but I don't want to spend $30 on it if it is just a gimmick. So any reviews would be appreciated

Treatment & Preventative Meds / Zoey had her first Adequin shot today
« on: November 10, 2006, 02:45:16 am »
I took Zoey to the vet today to get her first adequin shot. Boy did she put up a fight going in  :o I have to take her back once a week for the next 3 weeks, and then once a month after that. I am really hoping I can see an improvement in her with all the money and stress that it is costing me (she is so resistant at the vet I think its just as stressful for me as it is for her)

Everybody cross your fingers that it works well for her!
