Zoey rarely gets gas on wellness, but back when she ate solid gold she had terrible gas all the time. We constantly had scented candles burning (very effective smell control as long as you remember to blow them out when you leave the room and keep them out of dogs reach)

Zoey pees the second she hits the grass every single time she gets out of the house or car. Pooping is another story. She knows she has to poop before i will let her inside to eat at breakfast and dinner, so at those times she poops pretty quickly. Otherwise, she will walk around, sniff, pick up sticks, stare at cars, etc before she will poop if she is going to poop at all.

Ok, I'm confused.  WHERE do we go to SEE the entries in the contest.  I just emailed a picture of my Mastiff Zeus, so I don't expect to see him out there yet, but do want to see the competition <grin>.
This thread is from the last contest, that's why you are confused. The ones from this month's patriotic contest will all be posted together by jabear on sunday or monday (I don't know the officially posting date).

That photo is precious. Keep on going wild with the camera, because no matter how many pictures you take now, a year from now you'll wish you had more of her as a babyface.

I am sorry to hear that your little boy is having troubles :(. Have strength and know that he has (past and present) a good life with you. Even through his health problems, he will be strong with you at his side giving him love and affection.

I am emailing Zoey's entry now :)

My boyfriend (and by extension, myself ;) ) has a sony cybershot 5.0 megapixels. I don't know how much it cost, but I really like it (and I was a photo minor in college, so I'm fairly particular about cameras). We also bought my mom a kodak easyshare for christmas and she loves it - it takes good pictures but is super user friendly (thats why we picked it for her).

Check amazon.com and epinions.com to read lots of reviews. Amazon usually has really good deals too.

Jabear - what grade do you teach?

Everyone who said reading - what are you favorite authors/genres? I love reading - I should have listed that but didn't think of it. I read about a book a week, and my favorites books are fictions that incorporate humor (authors like Nick Hornby, Dave Sedaris, or Christopher Moore ) and nonfiction books about quirky subjects (books like Word Freak, which is about competative scrabble players, or Bringing down the house which is the story of a group of MIT kids that went from innocent kids to stealthy card-counters)

Do you know if there is another fear stage at around 12-14 months.  I think Maia is going through one.

That's interesting to hear, because I think Zoey is going through one too. Before, when we took her on walks and she saw people she would be anxious for them to pet her (she's an attention whore). But the last couple weeks, when I take her on walks around the park, she has been getting nervous when people talk to us and occasionally she is also tenative going forward when we are just approaching someone that we don't even talk to. She doesn't act out with aggression though - when she is nervous she backs up and runs around in circles and occasionally barks. With 2/3 of the people we meet she has been doing the run-around-in-circles. I attributed it to the new location (we moved a little more than a month ago, and the park where I walk her now way busier with both people and cars on the nearby roads than the neighborhood street I walked her on before we moved). But, she also turned 12 months 3 weeks ago, so that must be a factor too. It makes a lot more sense to me now why she would be nervous now about things she used to be so excited about.

A few days ago I was looking at Zoey's tail up close and noticed that it is covered in scales. When I touch it too look up close, she flinches and tries to nip at my hand, so obviously it is uncomfortable for her. The best description I could give is that it looks as if someone sprinkled cornmeal  on the skin of her tail. But it's just her tail. Besides this, her skin looks good and her fur is soft and shiny.

I am trying to figure out what possible causes there could be for her tail issue. We did switch her food a month or so ago, but I assume that if that was the cause she would have this all over and not just on the tail. She gets frontline regularly, so I don't think it could be a flea allergy. I spend time each day grooming her and have never seen any traces of insects or parasites, and again I would think that if that is the problem it would be all over and not just the tail. Her puppy-daddy thinks that we must have missed rinsing off all the shampoo off her tail during her last bath (probably about a month ago) and that it dried the skin out. Would that cause such flaky skin? Does anyone know what else could cause this?

A ford explorer. I hate driving such a huge gas guzzler, but we take zoey in the car so much we don't really have a choice. And if/when she gets a sibling, they should still both be able to fit
