We really had a whole lot of fun.

I know I've been neglecting my doggy parent duties of showing off my kids :(

Meet & Greet BPOers / A fun event for our local dog club
« on: November 08, 2006, 02:56:07 am »
South Alabama Dog Owner's Group participated with a booth at a local "Pets in the Park" event.  It was an absolute blast!  We recieve a lot of good responses from people on the idea of a dog park for our area.  Met many wonderful pooches and their owners.  Overall we all had a lot of fun and some tired dogs at the end of the day.

I think I got some pretty good pictures from the event also:

The whole gallery is here, there are a couple of cute/funny costumes we saw:

Well, one good thing about her being sore, it will keep her from wiggling around so much she opens up her stiches or re-injures her self.  It's just so sad to see them like that.

Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Re: Why not adopt out of area
« on: October 13, 2006, 01:41:51 pm »
We've adopted both of our adopted pups from a distance. If Mowglie had been adopted closer we probably would have taken him back when he was younger, he came with a whole load of baggage.  Friends of ours all said we should drop he off at the pound, have him put down, etc.. No way.
I'm really glad he wasn't from closer & we didn't , we worked through it and he's just a super great little dog now.

We had another group tell us that they would nto adopt a dog to us because we have a (very dog-savvy) cat. Apparently cats and dogs should not live together ???

That is crazy! Our dog has a pet cat, that's his cat, she & he always seem to be around each other.  I've always had the both dogs & cat's and never had a problem.  Dogs when they are puppies do get on the cats nerves at times, but never any injuries or anything like that.

We have definetly fought that battle this year!
Frontline no longer appears to work for many of us in this area.  I know it does't for me and many people I know. Which really stinks, because I used to love frontline.  I have since switched to advantage.  When they got really bad we gave all the animals a capstar tablet (It will kill every flea on your animal in a few hours) But the effects of capstar don't last long, we just used it to sorta "catch up" , after giving them the capstar we vacuum like crazy and spray the areas the animals hang out at with the Adams mist spray.  I've also been pretty impressed with the Adam Lemonene (that may not be spelled right) shampoo.

If we have any more problems like this I think we'll go back to using Program, but the prices of it has gone up so it's a bit costly now.

I'm pretty sure there is no set number on the rule.  I've mentioned newf.net and orthodogs and others lots of times for people seeking more information on a topic.  I think this rule is for people obviously spamming with another site to try and get hits on the other site.
