Man, that place is beautiful.. and I hope Bava looks like that when he's grown.  Josh doesn't have anything on Bear :)

Ok, what's the best way to discourage this.. Bava, our little 4-month old seems to have it out all the time. And does hump a lot.  We tell him no, put that back in your pocket when he does. Kid's these days, what are you gonna do with them?  ???
edit: maybe all the time is a bit of an exageration :)  He just seems to get excited a bit more than we'd like .

Akita Discussions / Re: You Don't Have To Be Big To Be A Bully!!

You should be proud of your dog Janis.. sounds like he has a lot of patience and a really good temperment for an Akita.   The fact that the daschund  is still alive says that :) I don't think I'd handle anyone kicking my dog too well.

I saw in another thread related to this, that they take a squirt bottle to the dog park with them to squirt the small dogs that have issues. I just can't imagine that doing too much unless there is a little ammonia in there or something though.

How about split rail with field wire behind it? It looks good and it's cheap, but don't know about how safe field wire would be for horses, don't know a thing about horses.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but there seems to be a lot of people discussing alternative things for bad hips on newf.net
I'm really sorry to hear that moses is having problems.. that's just got to be the worst feeling :( Maybe Adequan injections could help his joints a bit, seems to be a glucosamine type thingy that is injected intra muscularly instead of taken orally.  Crossing our fingers for you and moses.

There's lots of other threads about dysplasia in the health->maladies and disease forum though if you feel up to some research.

When did your newfie start to swim?

When we first brought him home at 12wks, but we started with a kiddie wading pool and played with his squeakie toys in it so he would take an interest.. First one foot, then out, then one foot, then both.... hey this isn't too bad. He eventually figured out it was not bad, and will just plop down in it now.

Took this picture on 7-1-05 (3 months old)

And this was taken on 8-4-05 (4 months old)

We took Bava for some more swimming at the pond last night.. I think this is 4th trip now, and he is really starting to get into it now. After we throw it out, he looks and thinks about it a minute, and you can just see he the wheels turning, and then for the first time he is jumping up and out when he goes for it.  What a cool little dude!

That's our boy.   ::) We take him to a place where there must be 100 dogs to play with and lots of treats, games, etc... and what does he do, He lays down and takes a nap.   Out in the parking lot and then back at home he goes freakazoid bouncing off the walls.  I think he's broken :) But at least he didn't seemed to be frightened or intimdated by the other dogs.

It was neat, and a suprising amount of dogs there.  Dixie and Sugar Bear are very well behaved, even when a couple of little ones (light snacks) got in their face.

He bite me in my v__*.  When I'm walking , and he sees other dog, he right away, he jump on my v_*, because he gets so crazy!

but his teeth are very small, and they don't damage very much. they just - they pinch!

Well.. Hey as long as they just pinch!   I just can't imagine hearing someone saying that in public.  I laughed a lot too :) But why on earth would she let him loose and only having to run around telling people ... Lookout he bites!??

A bit indelicate, but not that bad... but this dog has issues

;D ;D ;D ;D Ok now THAT is funny! I'm feeling the love for the ankle-biters.

One thing you can do with big dogs that you can't do with little ones is hug them, wrestle them and love them like a person. You can't do that with a little dog!  ;D
Yeah, well you can't throw a big dog through a tire swing from 30 feet either...LOL! :D
