Has anyone heard about this?   Does anyone know if this is actually true?
Then I also heard that eBay is reconsidering. ..   any info anyone?

EBAY WANTS TO AUCTION OFF ANIMALS AND THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE IT OK BY SAYING THEY WILL HAVE A SHELTER/RESCUSE SECTION.    STOP THIS INSANITY BEFORE IT GETS STARTED.  SEND THIS TO EVERY ANIMAL LOVER YOU KNOW.

EBay is taking feedback on wether or not they should allow animals to be auctioned off. please start a letter writing campaign , post feedback or whatever you can to tell them how you feel. auctioning off live animals is wrong and just another venue for the puppy millers....

Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / A Chance to rate GG Rescue
« on: December 12, 2005, 08:13:12 pm »
(This message is posted on behalf of Deaf Dane Rescue by Barbara Laird, Gentle Giant News, www.gentlegian tnews.com)

Hey everyone, here's your chance to rate GG. Go to:

http://www.tribe.net/recommendation/Gentle-Giants-Rescue/79bced76-3333-4060-b2c6-c063141c1665

Click on the "Rate It" button. You'll have to join the "Tribe" but it is free. Once you've joined you'll be able to rate GG. Whether you want to sing their praises, or rip them a new one, please take the time to make your voice heard by rating them. We always allow them a chance to offer their side of the story here and on the various lists, message boards, and websites we manage, but we often do not have the chance to offer a counterpoint when/where they are promoted online. Whenever possible, we need to make sure that an honest and balanced view of their operation is offered anywhere they are promoted on the web. They and their supporters will have their say, and we need to make sure folks know there is another perspective and another side to the "story" as well. Be professional, be honest, and be fair, but get the word out anywhere you can. And let the list know if you find other places like this where people can share their views.

Auction to benefit Deaf Dane Rescue

Award winning artist and Dane lover, Louise Peterson has graciously
arranged for a fund raiser eBay auction of her marvelous Bella and the
Bug sculpture. The sculpture is 8" and is done in pewter. It is
available in either a cropped version or a natural ear version. All
proceeds from this auction will benefit Deaf Dane Rescue Inc.  Louise's
work shows not only her immense talent, but also her personal connection
with the soul of the Great Dane breed. You can find out more about
Louise and her stunning artwork at
http://www.danesculptor.com/greatdanes.html And to find out more about
DDRI and it's unique program, check out our website at
http://gracieland.org/DaneRescue/

Please help us get the word out about this fund raiser, pass this email
on to your friends and family. Remember 100% of the winning bid will
benefit Deaf Dane Rescue Inc. We currently have 21 special needs Danes
in our program, and we have 4 more waiting for transport to us. We are
funded entirely by donations and adoption fees. We do not get any grants
or other subsidies. Our dogs depend on us, and we depend on the
generosity of dogs lovers and Dane enthusiasts. Caring for these big
babies is expensive, but they are worth it. We currently spend over
$1000 a month on dog food alone.  So spread the word, bid high, and bid
often  :-)  The winning bidder will not only be helping these wonderful
dogs, they will be getting a sculpture from a renown artist that they
will be proud to display. The auction ends in plenty of time for holiday
shipping, and this statue would make the perfect gift for any Dane
lover, if you can bear to part with it, that is.

Holiday Things / Secret Santa Question
« on: December 05, 2005, 12:48:32 am »
I finally received in everything I needed to send out my Secret Santa present (Sorry for the delay).  But since I've never done a SS by mail before I'm a bit confused how to label the package.

Do I put my name on (or in) the package anywhere?  Or does my name get revealed at a later date???

I need to get this in the mail tomorrow... so I need an answer in a hurry.

Great Dane Pictures / Introducing my new "Puppy"
« on: November 27, 2005, 05:15:03 pm »
Hello everyone !!!

I want to introduce to you my new "PUPPY".  Her name is Remi.  She is a 2 year old Blue Great Dane.   I just adopted her from San Gabriel Valley Great Dane Rescue on Saturday.  What an absolutely wonderful experience it was to work with this rescue organization.

I already have a 4 year old Great Dane (got thru a different Organization) and the two of them are buddies already.

Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Gentle Giants Rescue File Suit

Gentle Giants and Burt & Tracy Ward File Suit

On August 23, 2005, I was handed a Summons for a lawsuit filed against me, Marc Sayer (Deaf Dane Rescue) and 2 other individuals by Burt and Tracy Ward and Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, in an attempt to stop us from speaking out to the public about their rescue operation and about how they have drastically impacted other peoples’ lives as a result of adopting Great Danes from their organization.

The suit alleges 7 separate Causes of Action:

•   Defamation (Libel) of Burt and Tracy
•   Defamation (Trade Libel) of Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions Inc.
•   Intentional Interference with Potential Economic Advantage of Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions Inc.
•   Negligent Interference with Potential Economic Advantage of Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions Inc.
•   Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress to Burt and Tracy
•   Negligence
•   Injunctive Relief

Their attempts to intimidate and bully people will not prevent us from continuing to try to keep people informed. That sort of behavior may have worked for them in the past, but they are dealing with a new mindset now. We are careful to verify and document what we publish, or to clearly state when we are voicing an opinion or theorizing, and we believe we are within our rights under the First Amendment to speak out on these issues. Gentle Giants is a 501c3 public charity and is subject to public scrutiny. What happens there is of interest to other adoptors, other rescues, to public shelters and other agencies, and to the public in general. The public has a right to know how this public charity conducts themselves.

What are WE doing about it?

On October 21, 2005 our attorneys have filed "Special Motions to Strike" because this is a meritless SLAPP.
