Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Ricky "The Playboy" get adopted
« on: November 06, 2005, 01:59:08 am »
A couple of weeks ago, someone has noticed a beautiful Great Dane posted available for adoption on Petfinder.com.   He was listed on the Gentle Giant Rescue website.

Here is a link to Gentle Giant's website, page called "Family".  This is all of Gentle Giant's own personal family dogs.  Scroll about 3/4 of the way down... and what do you know... Ricky the Playboy is one of their family dogs.   Notice the first couple of pictures of him... how beautiful.  Then ... oops ... they adopted him out.  Why would a family that LOVES their family members SO much adopt one of them out?

Have any of you tried to find a hotel/motel (other than Motel 6) that allows doggie guest larger than 30 pounds?

I went to www.DogFriendl y.com and contacted quite a few of the hotels listed on that site.  I was just trying to find a place where my "puppy" and myself could get away for a weekend for a desperately, much needed get-a-away.

The only places I could find were places that only allow dogs up to 30 pounds.

30 pounds ???  That's not even a dog.

So... what is considered "dog friendly" now a days?

Any thougths??

Sincerely,
Barbara and Samson

Great Danes, Rottys, German Shepherds and Dobies are just a few of the breeds that may be targeted!! Please take a moment to follow the very easy letter-writing link and then make a phone call to let the Gov. know that dogs are individuals and should be judged as such. It is not OK to lump all them all together!!!

Send to everyone you know who can help stop SB861 We need the Governor's VETO

You can use the Dobe Club of America Lobby Tool to generate a fax and an email at the same time.  Link to instructions below.

NONCALIFORNIAN S please CALL that automated number.  You won't be talking to a live person, it's an automated system recording and tallying your yea and nay opinion.  Here's the governor's phone no. again:

(916) 445-2841
Press option 2, then 6, then 2.   You've done it!!!

CA SB 861 VETO CAMPAIGN: USE DPCA LOBBY TOOL, 9/6/05

"Now we are back in business!

We have a good chance for a veto.

Senator Speier, the sponsor of SB 861, is planning to run for Lieutenant Governor.  Senator Tom McClintock, our prime spokesman on the floor of the Senate the other day, is also planning to run for the same position.

McClintock does not want to give to Senator Speier the ability to trumpet 861 as a major legislative accomplishment in that election. He is taking the lead in lobbying for us against 861.

It is going to take many people to get involved - both Californians and non Californians.

When you use the LobbyNow Tool you will be sending a fax letter to Governor Schwarzenegger as well as an e-mail.

An additional copy will be sent to me and another to Jeff Helsdon so we can watch for any problems.

The LobbyNow Tool will generate many different versions of letters.  The Talking Points you see will be different than what others see. The Tool will randomly display a small number of available Talking Point Groups. The next person using the Tool will see a different selection of Groups.

Your fax needs to be no longer than one page! When you add your own comments you must keep the one page limit in mind. If you have a lot of comments, that's great! In that case, don't choose any Talking Points.

Your letter to the Governor can make all the difference!

Pick up the phone and call your friends - both Californians and non-Californians - and ask them to use the Tool to send their letters.  Non-Californians should use the Tool but should consider excluding your mailing addresses.

We especially need more participation from California voters to put SB 861 to sleep!  This does not mean non Californians should not send your faxes.  You should!  Senator McClintock's Chief of Staff made that very request today.

Here is the URL to send your letters:

      http://dpca.lobbynow.com/issues?SB861Governor

We need to get an overwhelming response to the Governor. Time is of the essence.

After finishing, please call the Governor's automated system by dialing:
(916) 445-2841
Press option 2, then 6, then 2.
It is very easy and you will NOT speak with a live person. It is
basically a poll. These will be counted in addition to our letters.
