Zeva has decided she likes my back deck, so much that she is eating it.
I thought I had a great idea. I mixed cayenne pepper with vegetable oil, let it sit for few days so it would blend, Then I brushed it onto the parts of the deck she was chewing.
Now she has eaten twice as much as before!!!!  :o
I guess she likes hot and spicey wood.
She has all kinds of bones and other chew toys to keep her busy. When she goes out back she always has the other dogs with her, so she should not be bored or lonely. Also it is for short periods of time.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could put on the deck to make her stop eating it?  ???

Old English Mastiff Pictures / Monster Puppy
« on: February 08, 2009, 07:06:39 am »
Monster Puppy is her nickname. Never have I had such a feisty strong minded little brat. Love her just the same.
Today she discovered the toilet paper. I'm getting ready for work then I go into the bathroom and there she is. Digging at the toilet paper roll. She is standing up on her hind legs, front feet digging furiously unrolling it at light speed. It was quite funny, tried not to laugh, told her leave it. She was having too much fun. I had to pick her up and put in the crate for a time out.
She has taken to rearranging the throw rugs, some of them very large. Also she did not like the place the giant dog bed pillow was, so she pulled it across the living room, and she is still just a baby. I'm worried she might decide on rearranging the furniture as she gets bigger.
Then she plays with Tesla the Rottie pup and Zander at he same time. I swear she looks like those Ninja fighters, taking on several opponents at the same time. I wonder if maybe it will encourage her to be too rough.
any feedback or suggestions will be much appreciated

These are my furbabies and my messy dog house.
I love a clean house but I have higher priorities then cleaning the house 8 hours a day. Which it would take with 5 dogs and a husband  ;D

I got a new Bullie baby today. She is so sweet and what a cuddler. Her name is Zeva and she is 8 weeks old. Of course she is a brindle and she is Zanders niece. We are doing all the doggie introductions. Zander seems to love her already, I wonder if he can tell she is a bullie like him. ;D

Remembering those no longer with us. / Echo is at the Rainbow Bridge
« on: January 19, 2009, 12:58:50 pm »
Yesterday morning Echo was acting disoriented when I went to let her go outside. She was my female Siberian Husky and was 10 years old. She has had seizures at about one every 3 months since she was 4 years old. Typically she would act disoriented for an hour or so afterward. So I figured she had had one earlier while in her crate. She went outside and laid on the back porch. I let her in about an hour later. She went into her crate and laid down. I checked on her about an hour later and she had deteriorated, She could not see and was breathing heavily. I offered her some water and she drank it. It appeared to me like she had a stroke. She went to the Rainbow bridge about an hour after that. I was with her when she took her last breath. It was so sad. She was fine the day before. In a way I am glad it was not a long drawn out illness and she died at home. I feel it was just her time.
It has been a hard time for me as I have lost 3 of my furbabies in 5 months time. Grizelda had to be PTS in August, she became to frail and was in pain and had stoped eating. She was around 15 or 16 years old.She was my Pointer cross. Then Marksman my male Siberian husky who had doggy alzheimers had gone down in his hind end had to be PTS in September he was 12 years old. And now Echo...

I haven't been on BPO for a while.
Grizelda went to the bridge on Aug 9th. She was 16 years old and had gotten to the point where she would not eat any more and was in pain from her arthritis. I miss her spunk.
Marksman went to the Bridge on Sept 9th. Exactly one month later than Grizelda.  He was 12 years old. Marksman had doggy ahlzeimers for about a year, and we were dealing with that OK. The he got to the point where he could not stand, That came on suddenly. It was kinder to help them over the Bridge then to keep them here in pain. I do miss my oldsters with their gray faces and wisdom in their cloudy eyes.

First thing morning I was out on the back porch brushing out my Siberian Husky. Well I had to shut the door because Zander thinks it is a game and wants to jump on the Husky. So Zander was in the house watching me through the window on the door. He was very aggravated that he was in and we were out. He started jumping on the door and barking being a brat. Well I brushed for about a half an hour and was ready to come in. Ha, the door was locked. When Zander was jumping on the door he had managed to turn the deadbolt lock. There I was locked out, in my slouch clothes, no shoes on, hair a frightful mess. I thought , OH Just Wonderful. :o  I have a six foot chain link fence that is padlocked. So not only was I locked out of the house, but also locked in the yard. I'm about 50 years old and the last time I climbed a fence was when I was about 12 years old. Being barefoot did not help one bit. I managed to get out and was hoping a neighbor would be home. My neighbor across the street was having some work done on their home. So I wandered over there. A young man working over there was looking at me Llke I just escaped from an insane asylum. He let me use his phone so I could call my Mom to come and let me in. While I was waiting on the front porch Zander was looking at me out the window like, hey Ma what are you doing out there
And that is how my day began  ::)

Bullmastiff Discussions & Pictures / Zanders big day out.
« on: May 30, 2007, 05:06:42 am »
Zander had to go to the vet today for his rabies shot. He was cooed and awed over by the people in the waiting room, which he loved. Then we went to the pet store to get him some more dog food. This was his first trip to a store. He was so funny, sniffing everything and inspecting things. He found a bin full of stuffies down next to the floor and tried to crawl in it. He always crawls in his toy basket at home ::). A litle boy came up to pet Zander but Zander wasn't to sure about that because he really does not see any small kids. The kids Mom came over and wanted to take a picture of Zander because she has always wanted a Bullmastiff. She said she was going to show her husband. Then one of the employees came over and was fussing over Zander, how good looking he was and how neat his coloring is. He must of fed Zander 3 handfuls of treats. Now we are home and Zander is snoring. He realy had a big day for the little guy :D
