General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Tealk rescues Gretchen
« on: October 18, 2006, 11:11:05 am »
Awhile back I posted about my neighbors complaining about my dogs
.http://www.bigpawsonly.com/index.php/topic,9785.0.html
Well to help keep the peace I put bark collars on my hounds Dozer and Gretchen. Here lately Tealk has taken to givig Gretchen a cleaning after dinner every night. He would lick her face and her ears and her neck. Well the other day Tealk is chewing on someting, I told him spit it out, and he did, It was the shock box on the bark collar ::) I guess Tealk didn't like his little Gretchen hound getting shocked :D

Coonhound Discussions & Pictures / Today is Dozer's Birthday
« on: August 12, 2006, 02:52:15 am »
Dozer is 7 years old today. I can't believe how fast time passes. Now he is as old as I am ;). We are going to McDonald's drive through and get him a chicken sandwich, which is one of his favorite things to do.
He hates having his picture taken but here he is today sleeping on my bed.

Tealk went swimming in his Aunties pool today with his cousin Charlie Brown the Chocolate Lab. He was playing baby boy and let my sister hold him like a baby ::)
He is getting around pretty good since his hip surgery :)

Rottweiler Pictures / Water Dog?
« on: June 06, 2006, 08:05:12 pm »
The vet recommended swimming for physical therapy to help Tealk with building up muscle in his legs. My sister has a huge inground pool. She said to bring him over. So we got him a life jacket.  ;D
When we first put it on him he flopped over like a cat does. ???  Then he finally stood up. We'll try it out this weekend. I'll post some pics ;)

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / I know you want to play
« on: June 01, 2006, 06:26:34 am »
Yesterday I went to take Tealk for his walk, as I was going down the stairs I twisted my ankle and fell on the ground. OW OW OW. I was trying not to puke from the pain. Well, Tealk says Mommy why are you on the ground? I know you want to play. So he's jumping aroung being hilarious. Today I can hardley walk so I'm hobbling around, Tealk thinks this means I want to play again. He makes me laugh and forget about the pain. Dogs are great. :)

I went to Good Will today to get some stuffed animals for the Furkids. They were having an end of the month sale. Then I saw the giant bear. I asked, how much they said .99 cents. So I took it home. The dogs weren't sure what to do with it. Heres some pictures of their reactions. :)

Rottweiler Discussions / Tealk's progress report
« on: May 27, 2006, 08:24:08 am »
He went in for his hip surgery recheck. They said his hip is healing nicely. We told them he is still limping on his front leg ( The one he broke last winter slipping on the snowy stairs). They xrayed it and said he is already developing arthritis in it. :-\  So a months worth of Adequan was prescribed, it is an I.M. injectable that I have to give him every 3 or 4 days. A 30 day supply of Firocoxib was also prescribed. For those 2 prescriptions it was $185.00 :o :o :o  I wonder if I can find these drugs anywhere else for cheaper. He is also on  Cosequen. I did find those on E bay for a lot cheaper than at the vet. Tealk's attitude is good he doesn't seem to mind limping although it hurts me. Please send healing vibes to my baby, as I cannot afford to pay 185.00 every month for more prescriptions.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Vet Adventure
« on: May 06, 2006, 11:39:06 pm »
Well it was time for 5 of my crew to get their vaccines. I started going to a different Vet as my old one just seemed like they were in it for the money.
Of course Hubby had to work that day so I was doing this alone. This vet is one town away  from me and with the price of gas I decided they were all going  at one time ::). I managed to get them all loaded in the back of the old  SUV, I even had bought a  grate that should keep them in the back of the vehicle( Ya Right). About half way there it fell over :o . So the rest of the way there I'm yelling " No, Bad Dog Get in the back ". We arrive and have to wait in the parking lot for "The big room"   with 5 dogs at a total of about 300 pounds jumping around and barking at all the people.  Finally they come for us, We manage to get them all inside with no escapees. The people waiting in the office are watching like it's a parade or something :D. Then Echo ( my Siberian) slips her collar and runs down the hall straight for the Cat Kennel  :-\
I hear a bunch of hissing and spitting and grab her before one of them got hurt. Finally we were all in the exam room and they were all Angels for their shots and exams.  Then it's time to go home, so it's another parade through the waiting room. By the time we got home we were all exhausted. I think next year I'll take them in 2 at a time :P

Groans, Gripes, Brags & Boasts / I'm so mad, My blood ran cold...
« on: May 02, 2006, 11:57:57 pm »
I came home from work yesterday to find a receipt for a certified letter. I went to pick it up this morning before work. As I sat in the Post Office parking lot reading it, I felt my blood actually run cold through my veins. It is from the Subdivision witch hunters ( AKA Homeowners Committe). It states that my neighbors believe that I am raising and selling dogs. WTF I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE WHEN ALL MY DOGS ARE NEUTERED!!!!!!!!!!
They go on to state that the number of dogs vary from day to day. YA RIGHT, I had 6 dogs when I moved in and have 6 now. They might not all be outside at he same time but it is still all the same dogs.
I am trying to reach the Lawyers that sent it to me. I've called three times already. And seem to be getting put off.  I'll keep you posted on how this unfolds >:( >:( >:(

Rottweiler Discussions / Tealk is Home From Surgery Now
« on: April 20, 2006, 05:44:10 am »
Tealk is home now. Poor baby is sore. He can only walk with a towel under his belly with us helping him. Ken gave him some spaghetti with his dog food so he ate it. He just wants to be petted.
I'm glad he's home :)

Rottweiler Pictures / Tealks newest trick
« on: April 02, 2006, 07:52:34 pm »
He figured this one out for himself. He takes his stuffed toy, then dunks it in his water bowl ::) Then he proceeds to either shake it sending steams of water throughout the room, or he will rub his toy all over you. Notice the wet marks on the carpet :D

Rottweiler Discussions / Tealk had elbow surgery today
« on: March 08, 2006, 07:55:40 pm »
We took him in to the U.T. Vet School yesterday. We thought he was going to have surgery then, but they took more xrays and evaluated his elbows. They did the surgery today at 1:00 I called them at 4:30 and he was in the recovery room. They told me it took a lot longer then they thought it would. He had to have a large chip of bone removed. They don't know if he will be home tomorrow or not, it depends on the amount of pain he has. I hope he recovers quickly. My poor little big boy. I miss him, even with 5 other dogs it seems empty with out him. :'(
