That is entirely too cute. She looks like she is having a blast. I showed my husband the pic of Sarge and he thought he was just adorbale. So unique looking!

thanks, that will be good to remember. I need to call and set up an appointment with my vet anyways, so I'm sure I'll get full details then. But that does make me feel better.
I love that pic l_s_g.

ok, it is an umbilical hernia. And the owners offered to switch mine with another female. But he called his vet for me and said that if surgery had been needed they would have done it yesterday. So, it can wait until she gets fixed if it doesn't heal.
Thanks for the words of encouragment everyone. I think you guys are right. I am excited, I get to go pick her up today. So, I am sure I will post pics later on tonight.

It's a Rottweiler. She'll give me the info on the vet and everything. I am supposed to go speak with her tomorrow and get all the details, I am not sure of where exactly it is. As far as them putting it to sleep. I am not getting her from a  breeder, I am getting her from a friend and he was just stating that he would (personally) put her to sleep before he would pay for surgery. He already has 2 rotts. I don't know. I was just wondering if anyone had personal experience with this sort of thing. And around how much surgery was gonna cost me before I decided on anything. On the other hand, like I told my husband, he picked "her" out. That is the one that he picked. If thats what we get, then we deal with it. And love her regardless of what she costs us, just like one of our kids.
I guess I am just trying to reaffirm that at the moment. As you can see it is 3 in the morning and I am up, worried about it.

Okay guys...
I am supposed to pick up my puppy tomorrow. Well, I got a call tonight that the woman took the puppies to the vet and mine has a hernia. It could go away or it could require surgery. She said she was willing to switch puppies with me. But then my husband talked to her husband and he said that was fine, but she was unbreedable and he would just put her down. So, now my husband is dead set on this puppy because if we don't take her she is gonna die.
I have no idea what to do... I don't know what it involves...

Anyone here crate thier puppies? This seems to be a big thing. I have had about 9 dogs throughout my life and we have never crated any of them. I was just curious.

Hi everyone, my name is Kristy. Board newbie, Rottie newbie. Well, I don't have her yet, but I pick her up on the 30th, I am really excited.
From what I have read/seen all over this site, you guys just love your Rotts. It has taken alot of convincing for my husband to finally cave in (about 8 years worth and a cat..?) and he even picked her out. He has seen them full grown and won't go near them... that and we have 2 kids so everyone has tried to talk me out of it.
My uncle told me to teach her commands in German as to not confuse her when I am yelling at my kids... Has anyone else here done that or is that mostly a competition thing?
Ok, well... I just wanted to introduce myself, cause I'm sure you will be seeing alot of me around.
